I would be really happy if the game play is as free and give as much precise movement and freedom as DMC
(im not saying DMC is good because its weabo , im saying its impressive for that same type of game genre )
Think of the video as a witch hunter vs tzeentch daemon prince >:O

Also im very happy the people that did the motions in the 40k game isnt the same people that sculpted Khan ( new white scar guy )
0:53 showed exactly what i was talking about in that thread when people bashed me for bashing Khan's ridiculous sculpt.

Holy monkey poo! That was awesome. I thought Valkryie Profile 2 had some intense stuff... this makes me want to break out DMC3 and finish it so I can move on to DMC4.

Any one know if Heavy Bolters will be usable in W40K:SM? Even just a regular boltgun would be fun to play with too... Is it totally gonna be 'True Grit' combat?

The thing that makes DMC tick is style. STYLE in all capitol letters. Your character flips out like a fething slow on coke while a fat beat starts to blast through the speakers and big bright words like SUPER EFFECTIVE and WOW! tell you just how much of an ass kicker you really are. Plus Dante has an attitude that speaks of danger. Nero is a whiney cigarette, less said about him the better.

And there's this:

Exactly. The DMC series turns entirely on the fact that Dante views these ridiculous, over-the-top situations as a natural component of daily life. Throw in what was, at the time, a brilliantly innovative art style and you have some fantastic eye candy.

I actually liked Nero's inclusion. His kind of whiney resignation made Dante seem that much more badass. Also, the devil bringer was a pretty sweet mechanic.

It's pretty sad that Dante is getting ripped off by someone called Bayonetta - sadly a creation of the DMC creator. Unless she has a sawn-off shotgun that can be used in a devastating whirlwind attack and be reloaded in one smooth motion. Damn it, I only played that game because of the slick gunplay in it. The way Dante whipped open the Coyote and reloads it in slow motion is just sweet.

Yeah, Bayonetta is not high on my list of to-plays. I expect it will be like Chaos Legion with breasts.

Any news on a release date?

So far it looks like its just Ultramarines and Orks.

A note on Devil May Cry 4 - It looks a lot better than it plays. The camera is often horrendous (Much like DMC 2), It controls exactly like a last-generation game (Though I don't really know how to explain that; It even looks like they used the same animations; Euphoria engine would've done it wonders), not to mention that it feels really imprecise and generally controls pretty badly on the 360. I won't even go into the rest of the problems, but suffice to say that it's lost all of it's polish and finesse on the way over to the next generation, and it's no wonder that I found it for fifteen dollars brand new. So at least I hope that Relic does a better job with the precision and camera on Space Marine, though I know that won't happen. This is their first action game after all, isn't it?

Space Marine pretty much looks like the epitome of the reason that I hate Space Marines, though. They're a bunch of GW twinks. This game is pretty much like taking all of GW's love for the Space Marines and personifying it. Since they don't have to run the risk of ruining game balance (like they haven't already), Relic can get away with it. I will probably be entirely too annoyed by the fact that I'm one Space Marine fighting thirty Orks at the same time that I won't be able to play it beyond fifteen minutes or so.

Relic has a reputation for delivering high quality end products and their post-release support carries on quite a bit.

Are your opinions confined to the 360 version? Because I have it on PS3 and noticed none the issues you've brought up. The only thing I struggled with was using an untargeted devil bringer.

I found the 360 version pretty schlick, though I am a casual gamer and couldn't give ten gaks about getting perfect combos and scores.

Piercing the heavens

Well, lets get that annyoing on-topic stuff out of the way first, shall we?
Did anyone whine about the heroes being Ultras yet? Because if not, I can do it. I don't quite get the Blood Ravens hate (though I've sen that video ), but I really really can't stand Ultras.
The game could be really good, I like these kind of games as long as the combat works.

Which brings me to the off-topic part:

DMC1: really cool. When I played it for the first time I never played such a stylish action game before.
DMC2: the less said about it, the better
DMC3: OH MY GORK! THAT GAME IS SO FRIGGIN' AWESOME!!! Seriously, it starts of with Dante sitting in his chair, and bringing his boots down on his table so hard that the telephone is catapulted in the air, just so that he can catch it, tell whoever it is, that their not open yet and hang up again.
In fact, that scene is so flippin' great, I'll go to Youtube right away and watch it.
There it is:

That game was great. I played as gunslinger most of the time, because Dante's shooting style makes Neo look like a whimp.
DMC4: well....while Nero did his best in being bad-ass he just couldn't hold a candle to the man himself. The gameplay worked just as well as in part 3. The backtracking in part 4 however was a slap in the face to everyone who paid money for this game. I don't have anything against backtracking. Metroid, Zelda, the old RE games all rely a lot on it. But in DMC4 pretty much 45% of the whole game was backtracking. And that's just ass-lazy.
Also, it doesn't get much more awesome then Dante with a Katana. Speaking of which, dies anyone have a good idea where I could find a sword that looks like rebellion in 28mm?
Bayonette: It could work. I wait till I get to play the demo. Though I really don't see why they just didn't make DMC5 instead.

She has guns on her feet. And can transform into a cat. And her clothes are made up of her hair, which can transform into a dragon. And the animation looks very smooth.

It's not so much a rip-off as a homage, but with all the ridiculousness taken to the extreme.

Edit: Scratch that. She can have rocketlaunchers attached to her legs, as well as holding two in her hands.

Gunplay will probably not be the game's weakpoint.

Forever alone

This should be quite God of War-esque in terms of how much you get to hit stuff. I loved GoW's combat because it was really fluid. You could jump between enemies with impunity and everything looked so smoothly done.

I see Space Marine's melee combat as being like playing God of War with just the barbarian hammer. You'll be launching massive swings that cut down enemies in rows, but it's going to be really slow and clunky.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

So Marines are going to be just like they are in the Background?

Sounds good to me!

(Though I do wish you didn't have to be an... Ultramarine...)
