I'd imagine that would perhaps be distracting in court.

I've never been called up, what weirder is a few people I know who have gone have been called up 2 or 3 times each on separate occasions.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Being a lawyer is not automatic grounds for being struck from a jury. Most attorneys don't like other attorney's on most juries because they feel they will unduly sway the other jurors. So instead of 12 independent jurors you get 1 juror and 11 people agreeing with him/her.

With that said, I had a law professor in law school who was called for jury duty and not struck. Also, an attorney I clerked for was called for jury duty and not struck. Go figure...

To the OP: it doesn't matter if you and the rest of the jury had already made up your mind, etc. By your own admission you came on here seeking validation of the decision you had already made. This then implies you might have been swayed if everyone was against your reasoning. You don't discuss cases period, with anyone, in any forum, until the judge releases you. Not anonymously on the internet, not with a spouse, not with a priest, and not with an outside attorney.

Youre absolutely right of course, and I admit my mistake. It was incorrect of me to propose a scenario with fictional characters that parallels an event that was being considered in the trial. I guess I had figured that since I wasnt actually specifying any details about the actual people, times, dates, and locations of the actual true life event, I was in the clear. I was wrong.

It is the deliberation of the jurors when they have retired to consider a verdict, which is illegal to reveal to the public.

The evidence of the case as presented in court is a matter of public record.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
