If your models are really tightly packed, and your careful with the placement of your drones, you can obscure 50% of the squad, particularly if they're only 6 models or so.

Gundrones have Jetpacks, and therefore may jump 6" in the assault phase.

So can you disembark them and use the two drones as a squad?

Correct, once they disembark they form a unit of two gun drones in all respects.

Taking gundrones on vehicles is a bad idea as they form a new unit of gun drones and thus essentially giving your opponent a free killpoint.

Also firewarriors can survive just fine outside of a Devilfish provided both of the following conditions are met

1. You deploy them in cover.

2. They have plenty of marker support.

Fire Warriors at BS5 who ignore coversaves will make their points back many times over.
