This song's getting old I've gotten my hopes up so many times for a necron redo, when I see in White Dwarf I'll believe it.

no isht! for those necron players who really feel like your codex sucks: Necrons are Stubborn. No, your'e codex does not say so, but tell your opponents that they are and tell your tournament organizers that they should adopt the rule. That is the ONLY necessary update.

That being said, I'll still give you a 0 if you bring more than 5 eldar skimmers. Don't be that guy.

So how many times have you lost to Necrons since the codex came out?

With the new codex would come new models. That is GWs main reason for redoing a codex. Plastic tomb spyders, wraiths, and immortals would sell, as would flayed ones. Granted the rules would have to be updated to push the desire to purchase said models.

I only wish DAs hadnt gotten so many models with their latest codex, then maybe I would see some decent rules in the coming months/years...

What I'm wondering is: what are they doing at GW?? They are there 9 hours a day, 5 days a week, yes? How long does it take to play test an army? How many years does it take to write a codex? What do they spend their time doing?! Tea breaks?

From my understanding, is most of the time is spent on the modeling process.
If my current place of employment is any indication, it takes about 9 months to design, test, redesign, and eventually make the molds for the said models.

I can only imagine the amount of time put into each model, even more so with the amount of detail now a-days.

Twice I think, I beat them once. Necrons have always been one of the tougher army lists for me to play against though. I'm not a horde player and refuse to acknowledge the existence of the guard infantry platoon. I haven't been running pure cheddar against them though, and my local gaming group treats necrons as stubborn.

The ancient atrocity that was the Ork codex was recently annulled with the new Ork codex.
before that, the previous Ork codex came out the same year as 3rd edition (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

But the release date for the Necron codex is scheduled for January 2011.

I was actually rather drunk as well and completely forgot to ask about the Dark Elf codex, which is why I got him drunk in the first place :(

So, you don't think the guy that you got blitzed won't hear about this from someone else reading these forums? If you care so little for your relationship to post up scuttlebutt garnered from getting a friend drunk, what kind of friend are you really? Not a very trustworthy one, thus a big reason why I won't believe a bit of this..

No that sounds about right...
Frankly, I'm confused by GWs unwavering support of Orks as an army. I've been playing since the dawn of 2nd edition and had never once actually met anybody who plays Orks until after their latest codex. Nobody seemed to care much about them even though they were constantly pushed on us. By my reckoning, (which may well be completely off-kilter) Orks were the least popular army... Not that I'm not happy for our Orks fans who recently got an amazing new codex. But if GW is going to release codices based on need + popularity, Necrons and DE should have come before Orks. As things stand, Necrons and DE should really be next in line... (After they give us Moar Speise Marorns of course!!11!)

Actually, I don't think Dash's source will mind much; They'd be MUCH more likely to be upset if the scuttlebut could be traced back to the source, at which point said person may lose their job. I also know a couple of people in the GW hierarchy, and when given what little tidbits I am, I make damn sure that they can't be blamed for violations of NDA. Believe what you want, those of us who are in the position to gather said tidbits really don't care. Besides GW changes their mind about stuff more often that a girl deciding what to wear on a date. It may be true today, but that doesn't mean it will be true tomorrow.

While most of the time a sloppy post CAN be understood, the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling is generally seen as respectable and desirable on most forums. It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

Id have to 100% agree with you there. My entire time in 3rd edition (which was pretty much the entire 3rd ed run), I never played an Ork army once. I was dying to play against some, considering almost all the fluff in all the armies seemed to have some kind of huge confrontation with the Orks. Hell even when the Armageddon campaign I never saw an Ork.

Then of course as soon as I start Orks, I played at least 2 ork players a week. Bah

Orks really needed an update though. Long before Necrons. (I still have some of the old metal necrons and metal scarabs they used to have when they where a WD army)

Is treating necrons as stubborn in a FAQ anywhere or just something a lot of people are doing these days?

My own little happy place

Necron players at my FLG complain that they got nerfed in 5th edition, well the monolith is still the best non apoc vehicle in the damn game. It may just be my luck but it usually takes me throwing all my anti-tank weapons at the thing at least twice till the monolith becomes destroyed.

I tried being normal but it's boring so now I'm back to being insane

Just something folks are doing nowadays. Necrons are too easy to phase-out in turn 1-2 without it.

Perhaps you should consider the plight of their basic infantry.

I played Orks through third and into fourth. A lot of people didn't play Orks in third because, even in third, they had their limitations as an army. I always saw a lot of KoS armies, which was their most competitive build.

I played orks all thru 3rd and 4th and into 5th. I really started to enjoy the army when they released the clan lists since before that it was a very stale codex. Still liked yell "HULKSMASH" and rolling dice. It just got better when I could play the style army I liked playing. WOOT Bikers!
