Well, I think about 99% of players would be accepting to a ruling made by the game developers themselves reguardless of who the rep answering the question is. I'm sorry that I don't keep a members roster of the customer service staff of the ask your question department of GW, and know which of them are competitent or not at answering the questions IE. doing their job.
Just saying...

-Giggles- John Spenser is not Part of the Development team, never has and (Russ Willing) never will be. He is a Box Packer who answers emails on the side, nothing more. I am not saying he is right or wrong in this case (I lack the Stealth 2nd printing Necron Codex so I cannot make a statement either way), but be aware that he is not infallible, and commonly makes mistakes, and as such using him to back up a point in a rules debate is like me waving about a cow while trying to debate the benefits of an Irrigation Plan for the Sahara Desert.

Reguardless if he's part of the development team or not, Games Workshop is still the developer of the game and though answering questions via e-mail, he's speaking for the company thus, wrong or not, his rules answers are going to be reguarded as credible in most situations.
Of course besides when dealing with a hardass RAW player like Gwar.

Joe Bloggs works in a Games Workshop Part time who posts on a Forum. Regardless if he's part of the development team or not, Games Workshop is still the developer of the game and though answering questions via forum, he's speaking for the company thus, wrong or not, his rules answers are going to be regarded as credible in most situations.
Same thing. As you can see, working for GW does not make you any more credible. Would working as a Secretary at a Law Firm make me a Lawyer? No. Likewise working as a Box Packer in a GW does not make you a good Rules Answerer.

Just curious, what is going to make necrons pretty scary in their new codex? Or is that just based on the assumption they'll get bumped up in some way?

Necrons ain't gaiining a new codex until at least 2011. Next is Space Wolves, with Nids and Dark Eldar after.

GD Spain made it sound like it was going to be Space Wolves, Nids and then Necrons but regardless I'm aware it isn't any time soon. The poster who mentioned them being scary once they get their own book just made it sound like some things were already known about what it will change, so I thought I missed something, tis all

I wouldn't be surprised if Necrons hit before Dark Eldar. The thing with DE is that the whole army needs redone. From the warriors to the archons to the helions they all need to be remodeled, re-worked, and re-thought. Necrons on the other hand HAD a strong codex so just need to be updated for 5E and become more viable. They don't need a complete re-working.

Rumors have it they will take away most of the flavor of the army to give them rules that I will admit are easier to play with than try to fix some of the current ones. Basically, you'll be playing a worse version of Chaos Nurgle Marines.

Idk what they are going to do but it's hard to imagine a Plague Marine being as tough as Necrotire.
