2. Try one pin. If easy great (but i'd still darken the end) if not fdon't worry about and just darken. Should take five minutes, including coffee break.

I'll make sure I put the gun barrels on the top of my list tonight... I have a spare burst cannon I cna work with to test it... it would suck to ruin the darn thing.
Five minutes with coffee break.. shoot... coffee breaks don't exist in my life anymore... I drink so much coffee, I have to take water breaks

My only suggestion is to paint the wires you have added. They look out of scale unpainted. Other than that I think you conversion work is great!

Wires are painted... I'm working on the armor plate currently. Hopefully I'll get a pic or two up tonight.
Tomorrow I'm going to finish my Rhino conversion.

Akula - the dreads look totally rad! I did the same thing with an AoBR dread for a family member. He just wasn't crazy about the right arm, so I ebayed an oop assault cannon and glued it on there. Now we don't mix up which dread has what (as before I allowed him to play with it despite not having it) and the model looks cool. It's a great way to save a few bucks!

Also, about your wiring - what do you glue the wires with? Every time I mess with wires they don't stick!

Thanks for the great comments!

To glue the wires I just used the glue I use for all the rest of the models... zap a gap, GW's model glue, etc.
I found that finding some place to stuff the wires into works best... that, and alot of patience. I had to hold them for a bit to let the glue dry a little, then I could leave them alone to let the glue fully set. Also, after struggling with it for a bit, I found that if I bent the wires into roughly the shape I needed them, it helped out alot. Before that I would just glue one end, and bend the wire and try to glue the other... only to have the first end come off due to the movement.
Barring that, I'd wager that a veeery tiny amount of hot glue would work as well, because it dries alot faster, and when it does, it's got a putty texture to it, and should hold on to the wire. Just make sure you only use a tiny bit, because hot glue can get real messy... unless you're modeling a Nurgle miniature - then make all the mess you want.

Hope that helps.

Yea finding a sunken spot in the mini works. But another thing I do if a proper spot isnt available, is I just drill a small hole where I think the wires look good. Then glue from there. Think of it as a half pinning maneuver

I also like how mauleenlovesyak or whatever his name is, made that template that looks pretty much the same as your burst cannons/assault cannons lol. Theres one for the win
