I make those tank trap/ anti amphibious vehicle things from them. You know the ones that are an x with another line running perpendicular from the center of the x. Just cut three sprues to equal length. File holes into two of them and glue together. I find that wrapping the center in thread when the glue is still wet and then painting over it in a metallic paint makes them look like weld lines. Their simple and great terrain.

Looks very good, would a food processor be good too? I have one that has become all sticky and nasty, so I don't even want to use it for food. The oil is embedded in the plastic and I cant soak it because it will break the electronics .

The easiest way I found to make rubble from sprue is to meat grinder it. Just stick some sprue in the grinder and start cranking.

Ok , then , try drybrushing them with fortress grey , SW grey and Codex grey instead , that should give a really nice effect

@Try Again Brag - Those are called Hedgehogs. Or, they were in WWII...

@Wrexasaur - My sprue rubble pieces are a mix of clipped and meat grinder-ed. The longer ones are just clipped, while all the smaller pieces are from a meat grinder.

Two note about the meat grinder technique:

1) Used meat grinders are pretty cheap on ebay.
2) This method is a PAIN IN THE ASS. It's serious work to grind that stuff. The grinder keeps gettinr clogged, too. After filling a couple of 20oz. to-go cups from Mrs. Ghidorah's restaurant, I will not likely use that technique again. I prefer to just clip, nick, and bend.

Well you have black, and Im asuming you also have white, so mix the two in a bottle cap, and presto! youve got grey!!!!! lol
I like the look tho. I honestly think I like the IG heavy weapon teams WAY more then any other armies version of a heavy weapon. Super sweet

Thanks to ADHD and pure luck, I have a goodly sized pile of sprue bricks..Some of my friends came by to visit, but I was still on the way home. I have a 2'X2' box full of nothing but bare sprues I've accumulated over the last 20+ years. They spotted that and grabbed a couple pairs of my clippers and just sat there, clipping out bricks from sprues onto my gaming table out of boredom waiting for me. Nevermind that I've got DSL, three computers on my network with no passwords, a Wii, an Xbox, a PS2, numerous card and board games..they just clipped sprues..crazy teens..

The bad thing about sprue is unless you cover it with something or carve it, it still looks like sprue. I prefer using scale I-beams to make tank traps and twigs for fence posts. Bricks from sprues work even better if you fill in the gaps with kitty litter and gray sand and then paint it appropriately.

Not to steal the OP's thunder, but I took the advice on the sprue rubble and ran with it. Behold:

LARGER PICS ON MY BLOG

I went with the snip and clip approach instead the the blenderized version of sprue rubble. I thought Missus Armyman might get pissed if I used the blender for anything else except frozen adult beverages and milkshakes. I was also pretty conservative with the application, since I was still unsure of how convincing it would look: I was pleasantly surprised! Next building will definitely have a more generous sprinkling.

Thanks to the OP for the question, and thanks for the comments from Dakka.
