Thanks! If you click on my gallery link under my name to the left here, you can see lots of other photos of my chapter so far. Finally painting some of my tanks, so expect a Vindicator in this color scheme soon.

Thanks again

Those flames are all physically raised higher than the areas they sit on; they are true 3D, not just a flat paint effect. It's really really difficult to tell from photos though.

Kaaihn, are those flames just layer-painted right over black, or do you do a black basecoat, then some white in flames areas, then the color (or something else)?

I really like that scheme, might copy it if that's okay with you.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Feel free! I'm happy to have inspired others.

I basecoat the model black since it's my base armor color anyway. Where I put flames, I draw them on roughly with white, then add the various flame colors on top of that. I use the white so that the other colors are at their natural brightness. All of the colors I use in my flames will dim if painted directly on black.

WOW! Thank you for the compliment! I don't know what to say, except I think there's three main reasons that I've had such good results recently.
1. I don't play anymore, I just paint. I can take as much time as I want, and walk away from a mini for a little while when I get frustrated.
2. I have the tutorials and these forums to thank for teaching me how to do stuff. For instance those two models are the first NMM work I've ever done, and I have to thank tutorials I've found through dakka for showing me how to tackle it. Just looking at the finished product really didn't give me any idea how it was done, and especially the guys that are super good and can do chrome, it's like magic to me. I can't understand it!
3. I have a friend that is a FAR better painter than I, and I'm always questing to match him.
