With some modification it may work. I have my heart set on the open-topped multi-laser turret. We'll see how that pans out.

I have high hopes for the turret. Might be picking it up tomorrow, w00t!

This is the Chimera Half-track thus far:

I would greatly appreciate any ideas on what to call it as well.

Nice idea. Have a look at the DaveTaylor blog, as he has the plans for a fantastic blood pact armoured car. I can't link at the moment, but will when I can. Speaking of 231's I've managed to build some 8rads for my Elysian guard.

I know of Dave's blog. I have it hotlinked in my browser. His stuff is one of my main inspirations.

That thing is pretty slick!

@inquisitor_lord_slade - Why Taybor? Is that something to do with that gay chap from Space 1999? And thanks for the comment.

After having a shower, I got to thinking that maybe Lengfeld-Pattern Chimera might work in memory of Lt. Friedrich Lengfeld.

Okay, bit of a hoo-ha today. Went down to GW Pompey earlier to pick him up a Chimera as he has ordered a FW Chimera turret with autocannon (Nice). Got home at about 17:15 only to find that the box was missing the sprue with the turret on it. The turret I needed to finish building this project! So, called the store and Paul, nice chap who appreciates a good Guard army, said it wasn't a problem and that they would swap the box. So, by now it's 17:25 and the store closes in 35minutes and I am 12miles away from the store and it's rush hour. It's a 15minute journey during the day but I drove like a bloody curry arsed cheetah (with respect of the law, natch) and we managed to get there with time to spare. Crisis averted! w00t!

So, I've now built the turret for you lovely people to behold!

I have slashed my hands up something rotten getting the top of the turret off. It needs a little bit of tidying up with greenstuff but the basics are in place.

I like the turret, but feel it needs to be a little bit higher (a couple of mm)? Adding some sort of extra bolted-on armour would fix that and add to the overall look (and conveniently hide any gaps and joins from your turret roof surgery )

Did the kit come with the IG accessory sprue with mudguards? They'd be the easy way to finish the front and rear mudguards, which currently look incomplete.

While I like the whole idea, and so far your execution is very well done, I think the whole thing is too big! The Chimera was already too large, in my opinion, compared to the Leman Russ. I think it was possible to still use the tracks, but the main body needed to be narrowed, and length should have been more conserved. Still a neat model though, and I like what you did for the turret.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

Lovely looking.
But what has happened? Did you abandon this project or do just don't feel like completing it? You are letting a lot of people down if you do...

Looks amazing. AND it now looks like it could feasibly transport 12 non-yoga experts, which is a great bonus.

Looking forward to seeing it painted.

That is a huge vehicle, but I like how it turned out.

The open turret is a great idea, one which I might have to use sometime.

I think the front wheels are just the right size. The turret's also well done; are you planning to make more?

see i was enjoy this entire project till i realsied your local is pompey, nice store gakky town..

Great work, shame i am in the middle fo a space wolves army to consider more guard shennigans

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

I'm not sure how big you want them? Any bigger and the whole thing would be looking at the sky

No plans at the moment, I think it is simply a one-off

No-one said I liked Pompey. I hate going anywhere near the place. I don't come from Pompey at all, just where I ended up :(
