Maybe I'm weird, but I'd say go with whichever army's background, fluff or models you find appealing that isn't your primary army.

Typically I would go with the above statement. However...As I am working on my guard right now and I am a slow painter. Things like longevity will mean allot. If i choose say, DE and by the time I get around to them they are squated or have an entire new line...I'm screwed. If I wish to say take eldar and I get a bunch of models that are not great or even good then I have to toss in say another 200 to 500 to make a viable army out of it. That could be a bad move. With the rumors of the armies of the Inq being tossed into one book, are the actually armies viable as they are now?

I own the armies that I really like at the moment. Basically necrons, guard and dark angles. So for the free army my decisions are based less on what I would like and more on other factors. Say I make it later and play with it, codex age and competitiveness is important. If I prefer to sell it down the line, things like how expensive the models are come into play. If I want a killer list for next years ard boys, the current power lists are possible.

This is why I am gathering as much info as I can. To make an informed and educated decision on factors other than do I like the army or not. I own the armies I like fluff wise, now to weigh what the others have to offer beyond fluff. It might also be helpful to others starting a new army or getting their free army as well. Hope that makes sense.

Nothing to specific like sending an army list, but if you said Slaanesh daemon army I'm sure you'd get all the slaanesh stuff along with Grinders and maybe furies (since they are non-aligned).

I heard this year that it would be $500 in online store credit from the GW website. Don't quote me, that's just what I heard....twice. If that's the case you might be able to customize your order.

Double checked this with GW trade sales a few minutes ago. Bad Rumor.

As stated, winners will be sent a 2500pt army.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

mikhaila- My above statement pretty much explains why I am not choosing an army based on fluff.

Good to know that 500 dollar thing was a bad rumor!!!

Any other pro's and con's for deamons?

GW didn't mean to hit your wallet and I know they love you, baby. I'm sure they won't do it again so it's ok to purchase and make up.

Wrong game system...But right idea. That would be a great army to get. Would get a silly amount of plastic.
