Guy, they are not clumsy giants. Plus Space Marines don't get day offs. Thier lives are dedicated to an eternity of war. And even if they were resting, the remotes would be made of something like steel. Pets would be Fenrissian wolves(SW),Fire Drakes(Salies) and possibly rotwielers and varios birds of prey

My Space Marines have pet raptors and triceratops, and they ride them into battle.

The original fluff said that codex marines got about 45 minutes of free time per day to "reflect on their duty", but that was written when the fluff was more tounge in cheek and extreme ( RT ). I would imagine the marines would get enjoyment out of some of their training, and also that a lot of their recreation would function as training. I'm thinking martial physical games like sparring or wrestling, or mental strategy games like kreigspiel or chess. Marines based on feral worlds would probably go out on hunting trips for meat and to practice teamwork and survival skills.

I also wonder how marines function in normal human facilities. The fiction rarely talks about it, but I'm sure it would take adjustment. They aren't portrayed as so big to make it impossible to go through doors and such, but I would think they'd have to duck. Imagine one of the worlds tallest men, crossed with a power lifter.

Space marines are not all lean muscle. They probably have more body fat than, say, a bodybuilder, for survival reasons, and they have all the implants and thick bones. Given that some of the world's strongest men are around 300 lbs, I don't think it would be unreasonable for a marine to be well over 400 pounds, pushing 5. I'm thinking they would, as a whole, look more like competition weight lifters than bodybuilders, though I'm sure it varies by individual and chapter. Some might have more lean, classically attractive bodies while others might more neckless and agressive looking.

I imagine it would be difficult for a marine to be intoxicated to any degree, but many chapters are said to use alcohol, especially the Space Wolves.

How is it they live in such harmony - the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know.

In the SW novel Wolfblade their is a SW that was overweight even for SM standards so I guess their physical appearance veries like normal folks.

"Bench made of wood? - I demand it be made of stone and titanium. And put some skulls on. And an eagle. And some more skulls." (whereas everything a guardsman gets need only last a couple of years as most of them won't last that long).

"And some rivets. But, no spikes, they're evil."

Damn right spikes on bench is evil. Even the chaos lads wouldn't go for that.

Or table-top tactical battle games?

(Warhammer 80,000 - in the future there is only Tyranids and Ork's because everyone else has been eaten)
