Nope c'tan almost always have a large detachment of 'crons to guard them, look at mars for an example.

Except for the lack of Necrons on Mars.

Then I'd love to see it. I'm just going off of all the fluff that talks about mars as the Adeptus Mechanicus' planet through-and-through. Sure there's a void dragon (allegedly put there by the emperor, so it wasn't always lurking there with 'crons) but the fluff that does deal with the Void Dragon (especially the Mechanicus novel) makes no mention of necrons and their juicy tech on Mars.

I do believe its one of the letters in the necron codex, one of the AdMech talking about an escape of something from the catacombs that is very strongly hinted to be necrons.

Wow, thank you guys for all that info ^.^;;

I've been very sad about the lack of necron lore. In fact there seems to be quite a bit out there but it's all buried in other race's lore.

Mars is not a tomb world but more of a prison for the Void Dragon. The Emperor defeated the dragon and imprisoned him on mars and eventually the influence of the C'tan start to leak out from his sleep. The visions of the Machine God as they call him can account for the new advances in human technology. This however was the plan of the Emperor all along, to help create new machines to fuel the great crusades. The only problem now is the Emperor is a corpse and the only thing that can defeat the dragon are Blackstone fortress's and they have been lost from the cunning of the Deceiver. In other words, if the dragon awakens he will consume our sun and destroy Terra ending humanity. The Mars incident you are referring to is a necron ship that landed on Mars (maybe to awake the dragon) but it was blown apart.

Synthia is a tomb world attacked by orks in the rulebook.

Actually, the story goes that something (Necron "ship") was trying to land ON mars, but got destroyed (or at least they think it was) on it's way down.

Mars is a Tomb World. So is Angelis. Angelis is the planet that the Gorkamorka game was located. It had been a lush jungle world before the Orks Space Hulk crashed into it, went nuclear, and kileed every living thing on the surface of the planet. By the time the spores gestated into a new batch of Orks, it was a desert world. The only other survivors were a few underground tribes of primative humans (called the Diggas by the Orks). The only notable landmarks are the skid (a permanent scar in the surface of the planet caused by the impact), mek town, random scattered collections of scrap from the exploded hulk, and ancient pyramid like structures.

I'm pretty sure the Necrons have woken up and killed all the Orks and Diggas since then. I'd have loved to have played a Necron themed expansion to the GorkaMorka series of games, but I imagine small groups armed with salvaged weaponry would've been no match for them.

It's not the Emporer's Tarot, but it's pretty close.

Just wanted to mention, Necrons do not 'harvest'. They enslave but keep them alive ready for reversing bio-transference.

The Old fluff was that they harvested life. This thread is from 2009.
