That is some pretty sick stuff you got there. Fantastic job well done. It's a rare occasion when I have seen a model scratch built and painted that well.

Is the Manta being held up by meat skewers?

One suggestion though, you might consider painting your bases black. They look kind of dirty as gray as they are. My eye keeps tripping over them in what otherwise is an incredible build.

Indeed I have skewered my manta upon kabob sticks. Fish taste great roasting on sticks! And I had them around and figured Id save the buck or two real dowels would cost me for now. I wasn't sure how high above the table I wanted the manta to be. Now I know, 2ft minimum. Although being 1.3ft off the table really drives home the looming ominous presence that a manta gives to the troops underneath it. The sticks fit into narrow cardboard tubes that are shoved into holes I drilled into the foam and set with epoxy. They come out easily and then slide into 3 tubes

They bases look gray(for my flyers) because the "black" automotive primer seems to be more dark Grey. Ill eventually paint them I'm just not sure if ill do jet black or more camo green to match most tables.

Question: what would make the planet on the manta look more like it is breaking up due to a massive Nova shock wave hitting it?

I'm talking about has a supernova in it cause all the smaller stars in the background look similar. Well the bright thing in the middle looks like a bright star in a somewhat dark environment. Sound familiar?

How about a BIG SUPERNOVA. that was what I thought and so went with it. Hard to do since we don't have close up shots of an actual nova in progress. I figured Id try for a nova wiping out a plant and its moons but realized the nova had to be eclipsed or you wouldn't see anything but flash-burned retinas.

Another question: im considering painting commissions on a limited scale and am curious what people pay for paint jobs like these on these scales.
any suggestions for costs of say the drones, barracuda, and tiger shark would be appreciated so I can compare to the relative effort that went into them.
