I think humanity is underestimated in these theoretical competitions. Humanity is on the verge of evolving into a race of psykers, so if they can hold off long enough I think they could bring the fight to the enemy with their armies of librarians.

But the Golden throne is failing, and when the big E goes bye-bye, Daemons will take hold of all of humanity's psykers and flood into the material universe, bringing gribbly death to everyone they find.

So more psykers is really a bad thing.

Orcs are legion but they are so STUPID - Iron Snakes has a good story about outwitting these thugs among thugs - Dark Eldar and Eldar do it all the time

Chaos is ultimately self defeating - think about it - you need someone to summon the demons, and even if you have a freak psyker they kill themselves in the process

Eldar are amazing and deserve their spot at the top - they really need a pact with the imperium.. So long as they can stay out of way of other races they have all their tech, understand the warp, remember their history and lessons learned etc etc

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you would turn your attention to the above post, you will see a geniune case of Nerd Rage in it's natural form. Note how people disagreeing with the above poster's opinions causes him to start throwing out profanity, and not using any sort of logic to back up his post. As well, you will notice that his grammar breaks down and degrades to a first or second grade level. This phenomenon is still a relative mystery to average people and adults with a sense of self control, but advances are being made to understand this strange behavior.

If I really had to guess I'd say the 'Nids are looking like the big winners right now. After all, they didn't start calling it the Time of Ending until the 'nids showed up anyway.

This thread is full of lots of "if". My favorite is the idea that humanity might be able to throw off its mundane shackles and emerge as a race of psykers able to fully resist and control the warp - i.e. be even more powerful than the Eldar. Sure, this is written about in many BL titles and referenced in other fluff...but it's going to take time that mankind just doesn't have. Barring some extraordinarily good luck I'd say humanity has 5 or 6 millennia left in it.

Meanwhile we have the Necrons, who don't want all life extinguished, just the psychic life. The C'Tan need someone left to feed on after all. I just don't think they'll come in sufficient numbers before one of the other endgame scenarios plays out. They may still survive, but being left in a lifeless galaxy isn't a "win condition" for them.

The Tau are one big defeat away from being overrun by a Hive fleet. They're right in the path of the onrushing horde, and if they keep expanding into and finding the other enemies that the galaxy holds then their fledgling little empire will be stretched too thin.

The Eldar/Dark Eldar are just living due to the ablative wounds that are Imperial citizens. If anything happens to that meat shield, the Eldar are little more than a speed bump to the Orks/Nids/Chaos gods who are on the rampage.

Tyranids, Orks, and Chaos can be summed up all at once. One of the last big hive fleet splinters was diverted to a full Ork empire. They're still going at it hot and heavy, but the word is that the 'nids are slowly winning - and coming up with ever more deadly, ork-stompin', evolutions along the way. It's simply a matter of resources, when nids take a planet they even eat the atmosphere...and even Orks need one of those. So the orks will slowly run out of planets to infest, and the 'nids will simply have ever greater numbers of specially designed killing machines to take to the next stop. Nids also project the "Shadow in the Warp" wherever they go. This totally blocks off contact with the immaterium. The Chaos gods have no inroads into the tyranid psyche - the Hive Mind is just too strong to penetrate. As the nids take over, the daemons lose access and Chaos withers on the vine.

You cant pretend the hive mind is more powerful than the chaos gods - thats very unfluffy.

Actually it is true the Hive Mind is incredibly powerful

And as for the whole Leviathan invades Octavius(orks), I thought the orks were starting to get the better, since in the ork codex, the orks destroyed all genestealer infestation and didn't wait for the nids to arrive. . . . . no, they launched a WAAAGH down the hive fleets throat(correct me if I'm wrong, this is just what I read)

And the shadow in the warp preventing ork weapons from working makes no sense, in most cases where orks fight nids there is shadow of the warp right. . . . and the ork tech still works, just pointing that out

The ork tek work cause they think it works and judging that they were devoleped to fight crons that can disable tek in thier fluff i would bet that they can override tek disablers and yup we went right into the maw proud of it

The thing is with the shadow in the warp is that warp powers still work just not as much and it wont make
any one explode of tern into a mutation like normal!
