I've been toying with largest (model count) lists this week for a discussion elsewhere... will be interesting to see if our results are the same.

Keep it up-- interesting stuff!
Hehe, yes but what "Largest" Criteria did you use? My lists are the largest Physical amount of models possible to cram into one FOC, that includes things like ammo runts, Grot Oilers, Chaos Spawn that get Spawned and Spore Mines crapped out by Biovores (Speaking of which expect it in a few days )

Ah, we approached it as starting models (with an actual stat line).

Otherwise, a Necron Tomb Spider has a unit size of N, where N is how many he can poop out before killing himself.

(I guess a turn limit could also affect that-- hmm, where's a math-u-tron when you need it?)

I'd only consider models that have stats Gwar. Otherwise they are JUST wargear. Otherwise you can just model all sorts of nonsense on separate bases. Like Grenades.

I'm not sure i can emotionally go with you on the journey that is "enjoying spreadsheets." However, I certainly understand and appreciate the age old enjoyment of reading collated data for the sake of knowing the answers to the question asked - whether or not you're sure you'll ever find a way to use it functionally.

I really look forward to the largest model count one - i did that one myself back in the day.

As you progress the series, and as long as it and spreadsheets hold your interest, I'd be curious to see some computations done about some more esoteric concepts.

Like the ability of an army of certain standard point size(s) to generate template attacks, or number of CC attacks a given army could generate.

Look forward to whatever your next few opt to be.

Regards,
Thor.

But you do not get Grenade Models. You DO get Grot Oiler Models, Spore Mine Models etc. The point of the list is to work out the maximum number of physical models. What models they are have no weight (i.e. a Land Raider is the Same as an Ammo Runt.)

Glad to hear it. As for the more esoteric concepts, I am going to do them after I get some more of the standard lists out of the way. Remember I am always open to suggestions and will aim to please if there is a popular request

Bah, I am extremely popular within my own head and have hordes of unverified fans that wear t-shirts with my name upon them (though they do all seem oddly addicted to motorcycle culture for some reason).

I create Smoke Grenade Bases, as reminders. Or did. Since I don't play SM atm, I don't have a clue where they are. Possibly in a bits Box, broken. lol

Anyway, anything that isn't defined in Rules as a Model, ie, with a profile, shouldn't be counted, by you of all people.

Interesting. But what about the legality of the lists? For example, the high end DE kabal list. Vect?

So, Hai Guise!

Sorry about the delay, but I have updated the original post to take into account the new codexes, as well to fix a few errors that crept in.

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I felt it was better to bump than to just repost!

I am working on a Largest Points FoC List, maybe, if I can be bothered, so keep an eye out for that Soon!

Signed up to point out your elite army for SM can be considerably more elite (atleast points wise).

680 points:

Space Marine Captain on bike (with all options like twin TH and such)

Space Marine Bike Squad (with multimelta attack bike, multimeltas, and seargant with power fist and melta bombs)

Space Marine Bike Squad (with multimelta attack bike, multimeltas, and seargant with power fist and melta bombs)

Sorry if I've made some sort of mistake.

Nope, you are absolutely right. I completely forgot about SM's ability to take bikes as troops!

I may well have misinterpreted the rules, but wouldn't a pair of maxed-out 3x Tyranid Warrior units be a better fit for the High-End Roster? That's 190 points/unit, by my math, as opposed to the much lower cost of the Ripper Swarms in the Low-End-Roster. This would bring the cost of the High-End-Roster to 810.

Yup, again, a mistake. The "new" roster was really the old one with a Prime instead of a Tyrant.

Completely forgot that Warriors were troops now.

I might have missed how you were doing this Gwar but for the DE kabal, Vect can't be taken below 2000 points

Most of Special Characters do have that points restrictions, some at 1500, some at 2000... but he states in point 7 that he has ignored that restrictions for all the lists.

Yes, Point 7 of my derpaderp Rules state I have removed all the legacy Points restrictions.

Ah-hah in the not so fine fine print =_=

So because my mind has tuned to mush under the weight of study, what did you mean by the FoC slots in point one?
Ie what are you ignoring?

What I mean is that other than the 1 HQ 2 troops malarky, the FoC had no weight on the rosters! xD

Ah cool so I did get that one. It seemed a bit funny - it appeared to my dulled mind as you saying you wouldn't obey FoC... but of course you did... Sigh knighty-night time I thinks

This would make a very good article instead of a forum post that will eventually vanish. Can I tempt you to add it as an article? - it will get home page promotion and greater exposure that way.

I was planning on making both of these articles. I made the Forum posts to begin with to allow for greater FORUM exposure to let me get the bugs out (as I have shown, I rather suck at getting things right first time )

Once I have time to slot in the corrections, I'll throw them up as Articles.

Lego, is there any sort of quick way to translate the BB code into a Article friendly format? I am not too keen of having to go through and change it all up :(

Anyway, I've slotted in the corrections. Enjoy!
