do you really think that? I think most people realize that we have enemies.
Several other comments calling that statement out
Trolling is a art. Nah, I kid, I kid.
In all seriousness, I think it's a bit of both, and depends on where in the nation you go. I'm sure New York has some lingering reminders <heavy understated sarcasm> that there are foriegn powers that don't like the US much. Real sure. I'm sure that all our military and their families and friends are pretty aware of it. And so many citizens seem to have this recognition that we must support and defend our military here at home at the very least, lest we repeat (some of) the mistakes our Flower Power crap made with Vietnam and other wars. I try to thank all the vets I see, especially the old fellas, for what they have given me.
And then I see the safety. And that safety seems to breed complacency. People just don't think about it in their everyday lives. Wars happen to other people, or are things that drain the coffers of the nation and drive up taxation. People will support our troops if it's on their way to Starbuck's. The US has had a very high degree of safety installed in it against foriegn attacks of any sort on our soil. And the government reminds us of what they have done for us every chance they get, which they have a right to and should to a certain degree. Sure, we had a decent fraction of our freedoms (and therefore collective soul) sold off to support that (don't believe me? get on an airplane.), but we got our safety didn't we.
So, to answer your question, Polonius; No. Not really. Except when I do. Because of the peple I see. I mea really, how many days last week did you think seriously that today might be the day that someone might murder you for Allah, for Emperor Putin, for the Cheeseburger God? Probably very few.
So yeah, good call on calling me out dakka.
