Id say medieval due to the huge amount of ignorance and superstion.. Combat wise its ww1 but The hearts and minds of the imperium are medieval in the amzing bliss (ignorance).. I wanted to vote renaissance cause of that pic though.. but I refrained for the bowl cut.

Playing Space Marine demo while GF was scrapbooking:
Me: I can turn it down, if the screams of dying orks are annoying you.
Her: That's ok, I love hearing the screams of dying orks.
My armies (W-D-L):
2,000 (about 1,200 painted and now I'm feeling the call of Russ) 3-4-3
2,000 (about 1,000 painted, WiP) 0-1 |

@Druid: I see what you mean but that pic (one of my all time favorites) always reminds me of Napoleonic wars for some reason.

You're all wrong.
40K is totally representative of the industrial decline of Nottingham in the mid to late 1980s.

I think your all forgetting, that in the Civil war (1860-1865) they had revolvers.
They pooned kids, k? 6-8 shots, w/o any reload, when you could luckily get 3 shots off w/ a rifle, while walking, and getting shot at 'nd stuff.
Ig is basically the same, lasguns suck penis, lasgun = civil war rifle, but less deadly. (Lead ball expands to the size of your head INSIDE YOU)
Bolter = Revolver

Lasguns actually blow off limbs pretty readily, which puts them at least equal to civil war rifles in power (and far above in range, firing rate, reload time, availability of ammo, reliability, etc).
Of course, the problem in the 40k universe isn't that lasguns are weak, but that everyone is hyper-resilient and lasguns aren't keeping up.
|
Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

I wouldn't say that lasguns blow limbs off readily, Orkeosuarus. I mean, on full-auto at close range mabye, but it's not as 'flesh-explody' as a bolter.

In the grim darkness of this thread JAPAN NEVER HAPPENED! Come to think of it, that would make this thread a bit more bright and sunshiny. You point stands, K_K, this time . . . that crack about the the Ming dynasty a few posts back is still on my list, however.
