I usually put it on the Broadside Team Leader when taking 2 or more in a squad. That way when shooting on relatively weak targets that don't need several shots to guarantee a penetrating hit(*coughlandraidercough*), I can split them up to do light transport popping. It's a rarely used piece of wargear, but that doesn't mean it's useless.

That would depend entirely on the tournament organiser. Usually, they'll say in the tournament package which rules and FAQs are valid for that tournament, so everybody comes to the event on the same page.

So if the tournament lists the INAT FAQ as applying for that event, then yes, it would apply. If not, then no, it wouldn't.

If the INAT FAQ applies in most tournaments, there's no reason why it shouldn't apply in friendly matches as well.

That doesn't necessarily follow. Tournament gaming is a very different creature to casual gaming. The fact that tournaments adopt certain rules has no real bearing on what people decide to do in their home games.

You are, of course, perfectly free to adopt it for your games, so long as your opponent agrees to it... but you can't really assume that everyone will be happy to use it just because some tournaments do.

But on this particular issue, I doubt it would be really necessary anyway. I can't see too many players at the table actually objecting to you using your target locks... The Target Priority test from 4th edition has simply been replaced by the ability to fire at whatever you want. So no test is necessary any more.

(And no, that's not a RAW argument. But it is consistent with the spirit of the game.)

SLippery Slope is not a valid argument.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

For what it is worth we play that the suits take a Ld test to get as close to Target Priority as possible, and go from there.
Not saying it is best, just saying.

Sorry I wasn't aware of the INAT or I wouldn't have even asked this question. I didn't mean to stir up trouble, just trying to find some clarification. Anyway, I downloaded it, glad to see someone is paying attention to the non-SM side of 40k if GW doesn't care to.

Blessed is the mind too small to doubt.

Because of this.

All other armies gain from there being no target priority test.

It isn't fair that Tau should uniquely be penalised and deprived of one of their few pieces of wargear, which helps give their army a unique flavour.

The INAT answer recognises this.

If you want to justify it in RAW terms, there is no Target Priority rule anymore, so cross out that line from the codex and it all makes perfect sense.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.
