try it against a dual land raider redeemer list, throw in a null zone libby and vulkan with th/ss termies if your feeling ballsy.
Seriously though thats an interesting perspective, and I could see how that would work if you take screamers in the 1st wave with fateweaver and then hope the flamers come down where you need them. Problem is once you get outside of the fateweaver bubble your troops are pretty fragile.
@redbeard-so is this list a possible adepticon list? what do you add to 1850 and would you consider taking this with a deamon lord in gladiator?

thanatos67 wrote: @redbeard-so is this list a possible adepticon list? what do you add to 1850 and would you consider taking this with a deamon lord in gladiator? I ran a demon lord (Bloodthirster) in the gladiator last year, just for fun. I don't believe they're actually very competitive. Unless you run into an opponent with some sort of a large target for them, they can't make their points back, and any opponent who knows what they're doing will largely ignore them and concentrate on things that matter. An'ggarath, for all his power, struggles to beat TH/ SS guys or seer councils. (Though, to be fair, he can kill 30 orks in a single round). They' cannot lock a target up, and cannot sweeping advance a beaten opponent. These are significant drawbacks. If I were to bring one, it would be the Slaanesh one. She's fewer points, with an equally good toughness, and the same invul save. She also ignores enemy invul saves, so she has a good matchup against other daemons, seer councils, and SS/ TH termies (and, by good matchup, I mean, she swings first, with as many attacks as models in Base-to-base with her, and ignores all their saves. In other words, she just runs through them). To boot, she never wounds on less than 4, and has both warptime and Lash, so she can lash stuff the turn she arrives, and gets to reroll both misses and wounds when fighting. Point-for-point, she may be the strongest of the lord choices. (even moreso since all gargantuan critters get to move 12" now too, so the wings on the BT and LoC don't matter as much). But, I'm probably not even entering the gladiator this year, as there are some events that I want to attend that conflict with the scheduling on Friday. As for 1850 in the championships... I ran daemons last year, with a fatecrusher build. There's just so much anti-daemon hate available, and mech is really taking over, I don't think they stand up well in the metagame this year. In this AWC tournament series, I've won less than half my games over three events so far. My paint scores are keeping me in it, but every tournament, I've had to play against at least one opponent with Null Zone, and I've had to play against one mech list that has given me issues. When you add those vulnerabilities to the intrinsic daemon randomness of not always getting the models you want on the table, or being unable to respond to your opponent's reserve choices, I don't think it's a good choice as a competitive army. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy playing the army immensely. I like having to improvise, and overcome these problems. It's a challenging army - it certainly makes me think more than just dropping 180 boyz on the table, and I enjoy that. I just don't think it's a strong choice for tournament play.

I'll see if I can find someone who can fill that out. And hopefully not the guy who gave up in round 1 when I wiped out his th/ ss termies with a flamer drop. Admittedly, few people here bring anything that's specifically anti-daemon.

@redbeard-good advice, I'm starting to think about lists to take to gladiator so the deamon lords always spring to mind. I'm either taking mech IG with/without shadowsword or variant or nids with/without a biotitan. Its so tempting but like you pointed out with angraath its really hard to make those points back unless you go up against a warhound titan or some big ticket item like that. 1250 pts on a model? Well it better bring cookies to each game!
How does your list fare against mech IG? What do you do to counter the dozen+ vehicles?
@dancing cricket-Sorry if I sounded harsh and unbelieving earlier. Regional meta and all

Mech guard isn't nearly as hard as marines, IMO. It's possible that I haven't played a good mech-guard army, but the two I have played went down pretty easily.
I don't have a single unit that can't kill any tank in the guard arsenal. I've got six bolts and two phlegm attacks that can all fire the turn I land. I've got a chariot, prince, crushers and fiends, all of whom should be able to kill any tank they hit (unless you have my dice doing the rolling ). Allied inquisitors seem rarer than null zone librarians, so that makes it a little easier too.
Dunno, I think I have the tools to deal with them, pretty much have to play it by ear based on the table setup and mission...

K, played a mech guard, 2k points, so I had to add to my normal list. I doubled up my screamer squads to 8 models each. And for fun I added skarbrand. Mostly cause I always wanted to use him. I don't remember the details of every round well enough to give a great battle report unfortunately. I did forget to move my screamers a couple times during the game, had them hidden behind my own units, when they were down to singleton models for the most part.
But anyhow, had a unit of flamers Stun a vendetta, and peel off two weapons, on the drop. Another Stunned a chimera with a psyker squad in it, as well as took off a weapon. Fateweaver got a shaken and a weapon destroyed on another vendetta. My second round the stunned vendetta was eaten by the screamers. After that I tend to forget specific details, but while skarbrand ate a vendetta, the screamers managed to account for a chimera, and a demolisher. They would have done more if I remembered to move them, and hadn't started the game deviating most of my units 8-12 inches further from fateweaver, and their targets than I wanted them to be. Fateweaver and the bloodletters managed to account for a fair amount of stripping weapons and immobilizations, and the horrors managed to completely disarm a banewolf with shooting from behind. All in all, I was not entirely displeased, and it made the game a bit of a challenge, which was fun.
One of the other reasons I added skarbrand was so that I had another chance to roll 4's and 6's when the opponent moved his vehicles. It actually worked alright.
I can see SM being a bit tougher, but then, there will be less models to have to get through. And again, outside of the land raiders, all the other transports are A10 in the back...

What do you mean the screamers did stuff on the drop? Were you playing planetstrike?
I am including screamers in my all tzeentch list against my better judgment so anything good they do I am clinging to like a fat kid and candy.
