I also love Centurion Macro from Simon Scarrow's 'Eagle' series - who knew Romans swore so much?

I almost always agree with Albatross, I can't see why anyone wouldn't.

The Brucolac for being the coolest vampire ever (The Scar by China Mieville).

Molly Millions for being so hot it should be illegal (The Sprawl Trilogy-Neuromancer, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Count Zero- by William Gibson).

Gurney halleck was fine, but he's no Duncan.

Duncan? He was just an analog? Plus his last name is Idaho, IDAHO!?!? I'm not sure what that means

Harry Keogh! Ah yeah. I forgot about him, I haven't read any Necroscopes for a while.

And I am ashamed to admit I initially forgot the one, the only (and arch type for Judge Dredd, who is also a favorite) Harry Callahan.

Ah Authors I struggle with (plenty I like, just no faves) but actual characters from novels I can pick.

Drizzt Do'Urden - aye, not everyones cup of tea but I always liked the character and have read all but a couple of the most recent novels.

Raistlin Majere - tbh I could name half a dozen Dragonlance characters, they where the reason I got into fantasy as strongly as I did back in the late eighties. However I'll just pick the one, and in my mind the best is Raistlin just because of the changes he goes through as a character.

Susan Sto Helit - One of my fave Discworld characters, tbh anything featuring Death jumps quite high on my list of good Discworld books.

Chief Scout Sergeant Oan Mkoll - fave character in the ghosts just for some of the most memorable moments in the series. Why GW or even Forgeworld haven't seen sense to do a load of the characters from the Tanith, Gortrek and Horus Heresy books is beyond me.

William Denbrough - from Stephen King's novel It, one of my fave books and he's one of the reasons for that.

Zhang Liao - also called Wenyuan, a warrior General of the Wei kingdom in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Although its based on factual events, he's still a very interesting character. The fact he was a living bogeyman to one of the three Kingdoms (Wu) due to his actions at He Fei has always amused me.

"That's not an Ork, its a girl.." - Last words of High General Daran Ul'tharem, battle of Ursha VII.

Solomon Demeter, from the Fulgrim Book -

Linda (the blue team sniper if I recall correctly) from the Halo Novels:

Engleby, from the rather impressive Engleby book. Ok he was a murderer, but he had character!

And finally Ruby from Behind The Scenes at The Museum, I had a lot in common with that girl:

Kudos to anyone who has read the final two books!

"It is the great irony of the Legiones Astartes: engineered to kill to achieve a victory of peace that they can then be no part of."
- Roboute Guilliman

"As I recall, your face was tortured. Imagine that - the Master of the Wolves, his ferocity twisted into grief. And yet you still carried out your duty. You always did what was asked of you. So loyal. So tenacious. Truly you were the attack dog of the Emperor. You took no pleasure in what you did. I knew that then, and I know it now. But all things change, my brother. I'm not the same as I was, and you're... well, let us not mention where you are now."

Why does Stephen Donaldson make his central characters such fethers? Same goes for Nick Succorso, Angus Thermopyle and Warden Dios in his Gap Series.

Counting the Discworld characters I like would also need a lot of space, but Moist Lipwig, or whatever he's called in English is pretty cool.
