@Anpu42: You're quite right. Your group of experienced roleplayers have no problems with using the system for what it's meant for. With a bunch of kids trying it out for the first time, it's another matter. Hopefully they'll figure it out before it's too late and the potential Role-Player give up in disgust.

The skill challenge system is definitely a great big cool idea whose execution still isn't really there yet. The examples and ideas given in DMG2 help flesh it out a bit more, but it's still got a ways to go as a finished system.
