My favorite is the CSM box.

Oh, Possessed you say, Pish Posh, you say, but those Possessed can be used for conversions.

Pretty soon, those 8 'Zerkers you had became 10, and now you can convert a Chaos Lord/Sorcerer in Power Armor with Wings right outta there. The other bits make for some fun conversions for unit champs and the like.

Now, what to do with that Combat Squad is the question.

Least Favorite is Skaven

They took out models and make you pay more now.

The Tau Battleforce has one of the best model varieties in it and one of the best bundle discounts. The Dwarf Battalion has only an extra half box of troops in it and therefore has one of the worst bundle discounts on it.

Ah...erm... didn't notice that. Logic wins the day again!

I did not start out with a battleforce, nor am I currently playing Warhammer. But if I were to pick...

Favourite Battleforce: Tau. Simply because it has good units I'd use, good use of the transport (both core units come in a 12-man squad), and is an excellent launch point for a new Tau player.

Least favourite Battleforce: Orks. Too diluted, can't use the trukk to its full potential, too little boyz, and wth 3 bikers can't do squat. An embarrassment to the orks.

Favourite Battalion: I'm partial to the High Elf battalion, but mainly because there's a good mix of models, and artillery is always a plus. Can't say I like the silver helms though. I'm partial to the new Skaven set too, as I like the number of bodies you get

Least favourite Battalion: Empire, because I think the mix doesn't represent them well. A helblaster/volley gun would've been nice.

The thing with the Ork battle force is that it's actually pretty decent synergy with Black Reach. Combined, that's 40boys, 5 nobs, a warboss, 3 deff koptas, three bikes and a trukk.

I guess they had AoBR in mind when constructing the Ork and Space Marine battleforces. It's an excellent addition if you're splitting the AoBR box.

I liked the old Battleforce box for Tau more than the new one. It came with 3 Crisis suits and I'm a man who loves his Crisis suits. For those who don't recall it came with 12 Firewarriors, 12 Kroot, 10 Drones, and 3 Crisis suits. I think it also came with an Ethereal but I am not 100% on that.

I've always been very meh on the Orks box's.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

The old tau box was pretty sweet, although the current box is also pretty nice. The old one didn't have an ethereal though.

I miss the old space wolf box, which was a great buy: 20 marine bodies, 10 bolter arm sprues, 10 BP/CCW sprues, three wolf accessory sprues, 3 bikes and a rhino.

Bha newbies. All the old battle forces came with some form of terrain. Its why you use to see so many sets of plastic ruins. Everyone had them back in the day.

Anyways my vote for best and worst. hmm

Best id have to say is the space marine one. you get a good amount of troops and others. Also a rhino which is not bad. Buy two and you have two ten man tacts and a dev squad with only a few more bits needed.

Worst id have to say is the imperial gaurd ones. Id much rather have kept the old battle force box for them.

Never say die! Never surrender!

Yes,between my friends and myself we had over a dozen of the old "gothic ruin" sets, and enough of those god awful plastic trees to make a fething forrest with.

Anyway,best & worst?

Best,I'd have to agree with Golga,Space Marines does seem to me to be the best available Battleforce.

Worst,IMO CSM,it basicly screams "You will play Black Legion!! or some watered down version of."

Dude. The Codex says that with generic force org - why wouldn't the battleforce reflect it? Its like saying that the SW battleforce screams play Space Wolves.

I guess i was lucky enough to pick up the IG battleforce when it still came with the Russ, but on that note i must say i am liking the new battlefore for the IG. Its definatley not designed for a starter set but more of a addon to your exisiting army. Platoon Command squad OR CCS, 2 squads OR a joined 20 man squad and the three heavey weapons isnt bad. The sentinel is a bit akward but still, ill use it.

i also love the AOBR set. not to grand for conversions but was perfect for me and my brother, he collects orks and BT.

Oh, belive me I'm well aware of the contents of Codex: Spikey,Angry Marines,my point was that the battleforce just enforces the blandness.

I only ever bought one battle force, but the VC box is a good start. 3 core +1 corpse cart is a good mix for a beginner.

I dont like the look of the new guard box. I almost started guard, but now I wont unless I get the old box. I want a Russ.
