Although I am not familiar with the Space Wolf codex, I imagine they have similar advantages to other SMs of good armour, leadership, mobility and H2H ability, compared to Tau and Necrons.
If they do have problems anyway it will begin to appear in next year's tournaments.
Interestingly, Tau and Necrons can and do place high at tournaments.

There are some key issues for Eldar.
1. Random game length.
2. Low toughness troops.
3. Skimmer nerfing.

5th really hurt builds that lacked mobility and significant AT.
Other miscellaneous stuff factors in as well - rending nerf, skimmer nerf, combat res making it vastly more difficult to tarpit - but the biggest issues were mobility and AT.
This (and deepstrike armies) are a big part of why you don't see Marine or Tau gunlines around anymore.

Most people seem to be complaining about armies that lost their great combo or are lagging behind in competitiveness. For the combo players, there are always new combos; you just need to adapt. For the competitiveness part, some armies will have to wait awhile to be updated, but if you're smart, start buying the units that are crappy now because they will probably rock for some not-so-random reason when they do get a new Codex.

Basically its CoverHammer, not warhammer. You need to think in coversaves.
HAHA! So true...I was thinking about it, if they go back to the old rules set or drop the cover save to say 5+ in 6th edition then guard are going to be so absurdly powerful. Could you imagine an executioner where the enemy didn't get an almost always guaranteed cover save?

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake. |
