Halo isn't dying, it's just the hype of a new release in a big franchise showing. Besides, I doubt many people are going to switch to a PS3 just to play MAG.
While I actually agree with most of what you're saying, it is best to keep in mind Resident Evil 2 single-handedly sold millions of PlayStations back in the late nineties. Of course it had zombies and I am an avid PS3 guy and have never heard of MAG yet so draw your own conclusions. Just something to keep in mind that one game CAN actually sell a ton of consoles. Besides, it wouldn't be 'switching' consoles, it would be another console.

Too true, GoFenris
I'm an avid PS3 guy myself, but my g/f is buying me a 360 this crimbo after I stated interest in the GoW games. Doesn't mean I'm replacing anything, just means I have both

Just checked out some video and developer comments re: Mag. Certainly interesting and I can see the ridiculously addictive appeal for the hard-core but I've personally spent many years in the military and I like picking up CoD:WEVR and jumping in for a few rounds but this! This is a second life.
Now, that's not to say it doesn't look great, just I don't think it is for me.

And wow. I can't say I'm surprised from the fact that, like most BF2 players, jumping out of a perfectly serviceable vehicle or turning it into a jihad jeep equivalent is considered "tactics", as is laying C4 everywhere.
Well, my example is actually not like that. If you've played BF2 then you know about the map with the flag on top of the mosque, and you probably know that it is very difficult to land a helicopter on that point or to even fly close enough to cap the point without being shot down.
So, I ditched the heli so that instead of having to go through the stairwell and getting my arse shot off I simply deep striked and fortunately didn't scatter. Upon landing on the balcony I wasted two opponents guarding said flag using the spec ops kit and placed c4 on the door so that I was well protected. Its equivalent to snipers in CoD laying down claymores or bouncing betties.
This gave us 2 of the C.P.s and allowed my team to 1) Spawn elsewhere besides main base with the spawn campers, and 2) to flank the next closest C.P giving us 3 of them. We consolidated and swept the map, unfortunately there wasn't enough time for out points to overcome the enemys' points.
Also, placing c4 on a car/truck with no armor or weapons and ramming it into the rear of a tank and detonating it does some considerable damage. So effectively you are taking a vehicle that wouldn't do any damage to an opponent in an armored vehicle and giving it teeth.
Those my friend are tactics, you can knock it if you want, but warhammer 40k, CoD, and the real world validate them.
Rant Off:
But no, it wasn't made to wipe halo off of the shelves it was made to impress owners of the PS3 with the sheer number of people that can play online at the same time. I would compare that to Project Natal for the 360 and the Wii console's controls.

It isn't 1989 anymore. Many games are built for Western audiences, such as MAG. FPS's don't tend to be as popular in Japan as here. Other examples would be Halo, GTA series, God of War, and Dragon Age.

While adding Halo to the list is part of the FPS example, it is made by microsoft and so the japanese don't know squat in that case and therefore that example is rubbish.
But, I am sticking with the "It'll be awesome because they put work into it" crowd, I heard one complaint about controls, but that came from only IGN.

Fair point there halonachos, but what amazes me the most is the server upgrade that is being done to make it so that MAG will be a ble to actualy run without dialup lag and so the server can hold that many players at the one time.
One of my mates said that sony is taking some kind of software from the psp? is this true? If so what is it?

That doesn't remotely address the issue raised so I'm not sure what you mean by it. The PS3 wasn't made for the Japanese, it was made for global consumption. The Japanese game industry isn't as insular as it once was. The examples were to show how Western developers bridged that gap.
