This is not my website, the site is owned by 'louis taylor' whoever that is...
I just saw them and liked them, and thought that other people would like to use/have a look at.
I thought that community sharing was what a forum was all about, is this forum an exception? Only allowing the same impregnated ideas to be repeated time and time again with no variation or innovation? Is this what being part of a community about?

Welcome to Dakka.

Sharing is, by definition, a two way street. Otherwise it would be "giving". You've submitted an idea, and others have shared their opinions of your idea. I'm all for a low or no cost proxy that looks good, but this is long on the former and doesn't make it on the latter. The other printable one is quite nice.

As a parent, I would print off these for my son because I know he and his friends will trash them and I wouldn't have to spend £20 ($25-$30) on a drop-pod that will pretty much stay unpainted. Sound cheap but kids don't mind building lots of stuff fast. As as for me...they're a no.But thanks for the link.....happy birthday son....20 drop pods...now go get the scissors and glue....

@ Ouze:
I agree, the other paper drop pods are much more like the GW ones, share the same structure and dimensions and are overall quite similar to the GW drop pods. However, by nature, the shape of the drop pods are not easily made in paper, meaning that you end up with strange flat sides etc. I also cannot see how you can make the other paper DP's look nice, as it is difficult to paint the paper, and they do not come textured+coloured.

@Bash the Bosh:
you need glue for the GW ones too...
I know what you mean though, these are not display models, and never will be

I foresee a myscetic spore version of this thing in the near future :p

in the meantime, these might be a good stand-in for my friend's WIP marine army, at least until he finds some pods of his own.

Edit: and to those who think flying_wombat is a tool, check the comments on the site, it explains all :3

Well either way i like them. Easy way for me to get my six drop pods to play with for my Anointed army (Word bearers first company useing SW codex) Simple and different. Better then the solo cups a friend was useing while he saved up to buy the drop pods.

So flying wombat I thank you.

Eh there okay I suppose. I dislike the lack of details on them and the fact that they are paper models. Good for a proxy game I suppose.

Potentially helpful for a few test games to see if you want to go a full drop pod army, I thought that such a thing worked better all or nothing. And getting 4+ drop pods just to test an army build is a touch pricy.

As a modeller I don't like these but I'd have no problem whatsoever if someone plonked these on the table: I've always thought drop pods were just a step too far in terms of wysiwyg, just another way of making another £18 or whatever per deep striking marine army squad.

They're better than a cut out pie/floor template.

And, boy, feel those negative waves. Sharing is a two way street, lol. He chose to share an idea, others chose to gift us with their venom and vitriol. Beautiful, I thank you sir.

Ill throw my .02 in. Personally, I dont like them. They look nothing like drop pods and theyre proxies. Im a proxy nazi. If im going to drop $400+ on my army, Im not going to play against someone using paper cutouts of 60mm bases with a dude standing on it (Space wolves wolf riders ugh), poker chip termies, or paper proxies. If you're going to scratch build and be creative, go for it, Im all about it. But when you take the cheap easy way out, you're not throwing down against me in a match plain and simple.

Also, GW makes these models now, so there is no reason not to have them. I can see this MAYBE before GW started making them because FW is too expensive. And if you're going to whine about spending too much money, this is a hobby, hobbies arent cheap. Play a video game instead.
