My reason for mentioning the DP is that if you are running an IC with a wings out of a vehicle, it's much better to just run a DP with wings and lose nothing and gain so much more.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

It is 300.
The current list looks ok.
At 1000, I think it's ok to operate without oblit support and just drown the enemy in CSM troops.

I just read this thread through with great interest - there's some excellent points in it.
I must say, perhaps it's a personal preference, but I would never dream of using that Khorne Daemon-weapon. Just a little bad luck (not even a lot) and you expensive lord will have his pants pulled down by just about anything! Some of the Daemon weapons looked great... But not that one!
(I know it didn't make the OP's final list, but I'm interested in hearing peoples take on it - the moment I saw the downside, it was dead to me.)

and supported by Obliterators.

To be honest, 1000 point Berzerker lists are very impractical. You shouldn't be taking a Land Raider in a game that small, and you also don't really have a lot of rom for support. In a 1000 point game, I would take sme Predators, because they are very cheap for what you get.

True, CSM are a points intensive army, lower points is harder as opputunity costs rise.
To save points, you don't really need 10 man Zerker squads, 8 can shave off some points, a power weapon instead of fist can work for one zerker squad.
Then you don't really need extra armor everywhere.
So you'll save enough points for something in the hvy support section

at 1000 points, defilers and plague marines are your best friends.
No, really... it's the truth. 14-21 PMs in rhinos with meltaguns or plasma guns suddenly give your opponent issues, especially when paired with the 2 or 3 (preferably 3) battlecannons hanging off of your doom crabs of hurtyness, and because they don't require a 220+ point transport, you can actually field more of them than you can (effectively) field berzerkers.

If you're trying to maximize bodies then you don't want Plague Marines, you want Chaos Space Marines with an Icon of Something Suitable; and Icon of Khorne if you're bent on having them assault, Icon of Nurgle if you want to put off some anti-infantry fire.

I would never suggest IoN CSM though...
But yes to maximizing bodies as an alternative.

I rephrase my prior statement, the lord is a great close combat unit when fighting really anything in hand to hand, the only thing to look out for is the one strength 8 hit that can come from most anything in a marine army and considering he can be singled out in melee just something to look out for.

The daemon price already has good touthness. I think it is better personally to get mark of khorne for the extra attack. It would also fit better with your army majority khorne theme

I would suggest giving the rhino a havoc launcher. Have been dominated buy those in games where I have been against chaos. Also gives the rhino something to do after the passengers have disembarked.

i think it is as good to take a normal marine squad with mark of knorne instead as you get more models on the table for you points and the same number of attacks. Khorne berserkers are really only worth it for the plasma pistols.
