Hmmm...It must be pretty hard for Eldar too breed. If they need both the mother and father throughout the pregancy. What if the father dies on the battlefield? Could cause some problems.

Presumably at some point in the development fairly early on. May not be conception though, a human embryo doesn't display gender characteristics for a couple of months, I think.

Or it could be some external trigger, like reptiles being from the temperature of the egg. And the mother sometimes choosing certain conditions to make her babies be a particular gender. I can see an eldar deciding if they want a male or female offspring.

Maybe it has something to do with their psychic powers. I mean, even the average Eldar is psychically-attuned right? So couldn't gender be controlled psychically?

I probably should have complained, because it's riddled with canon errors and many of the events described in it broke my suspension of disbelief. What kind of a name is "Hottenbotherd" anyways? German?

It was hard enough to believe that female astartes would pose semi-nude for a calendar series!

Hottenbotherd is of Ophelian extraction. As for Swallows, I aimed to honor Faith & Fire author James Swallow. Barely needs no explanation but just in case it's a simple joke to indicate that she is barely old enough to serve the Emperor as a Sororita. You know, as if she were just a cheerleader for Schola Progenium scrumball.

As far as this business about femarines posing for that calendar, it's completely in-line with all of the established fluff.
