Hi all.
Perhaps if we define our own hobbies with more clarity, we can converse in a more defined way?
I agree the term ' the
GW hobby' is just a mis nomer for 'please buy
GW products exclusivley'.
40k competative gamer is a hobiest, a narrative driven artist that likes to convert and paint
40k minatures is also a hobbiest.
However thier views on what is important to them will be quite different.
Perhaps
GW plc is to blame for trying to tell people what thier hobby should be ?(..the
GW hobby...)
And the inferance that
GW products are all there is to the table top minature gaming hobby, doesnt help much
IMO.
If exposed to the wider range of products available the hobbiests would spread out in to more focused groups perhaps?
If we look at the dispersion of NON
GW gamers ,(approx 2.5 million, ) they are divided in to much smaller more focused groups than the
GW customers .
If the choice is 12,000appx different games ,suported by 2,000appx companies , (world wide), then the hobbiests can find somthing VERY close to thier ideal .
Rather than 400,000appx
GW customers (world wide) shoehorned into 3 core game and one set of minatures, which means '
GW indoctrinated hobbiests' compromising 'ideal' for 'get by with'.
