Kid_Kyoto, you were JET? Sweet, me too. I requested rural and got it, so I was out in Miyazaki, fully Inaka. I bloody loved it.

Last weekend ago, I found my old school yearbook. I didn't quite cry, but I think that was because I found the yearbook from the 2003 graduation, not the 2004 graduation.

I want to go back, but I have some career stuff to do first. Japan has many flaws (the oft mentioned right wing politics being one), but overall, I could not have been made more welcome, nor been much happier there. 've been bac 6 1/2 years, and went back for the summer 2 1/2 years ago. I find it hard to believe it was only two years I spent there, as it is such a HUGE part of who I am.

Never played any GW while I was there, but I did start playing Neverwinter Nights, which got me back into nerdery after quitting in 1995.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Check the JP GW website for the closest hobby center. Should be the easiest way to find an "in" into any potential local gaming groups.

That is a list of stores in Kanagawa (around where you are) that supposedly stock GW stuff. (not GW hobby centers.)

Its still in Japanese, but hopefully you can figure out the addresses etc. If you still need help, just post.

Chances are gamers will be Japanese, and you will also need to speak Japanese to play (although tbqh, most will be able to understand *basic* English.)

Additionally, in Japan we use CM lengths for everything. Basically take all your inch measurements, multiply by 2, and thats your CM length. Although 20 CM Is slightly shorter than 10 in (its closer to 25 CM), I assume its how GW keeps things simple.

Additionally, try to poke around the base. I'm *sure* there are other people that game 40k/WHFB on base. You just need to find them.

Make sure that you buy your train pass here in the states, it alot cheaper than buying it in Japan.
