I'd like to say the skaven.

there warlike nature and devious antics, not to mention the fact that no one knows exactly how much that has happened in the warhammer world was caused by them.

I like the Lizardmen, they're pretty original, and there's so much mystery to them. Is the Old One's plan really proceeding as intended? Are they just the result of a bunch of intergalactic ups? Who/what is Sotek, really? What is Sotek's connection to Sigmar? (Double tailed comet is both of their symbols)

I think that the Empire has the most developed background (naturally, since it's sort of the flagship faction), but I like the Brettonia and Undead backgrounds a lot more. I wish they discussed more about them, especially Mousillon. Back in 5th edition Mousillon was listed as being one of the cities of the dead, but now there's really not much about it anymore.

Gotta go with the High Elves. One of the most descriptive canonical time lines in the game. Solely responsible for saving the world, time and again. Gave humans the ability to stand a fighting chance against Chaos by teaching them magic.

But I am a bit biased.

Was going to say Orcs, since their lore is always entertaining, I went Dark Elves. Their background just rocks (being forced to teach naggash dark magic, the sundering, huge floating black arks) also, I might be wrong, but didn't they create Slaanesh, or something like that? Might have that wrong...

Your thinking of Eldar in 40K.

Dark Elves were corrupted by Slaanesh, or his pervue at least.

Tomb Kings. I like the whole "Get off my property!" aspect of them.

Skaven. Warpstone powered steampunk rodents!

lol i agree Chaos Dwarves....yesss but giving a shout out to the Tomb Kings and their epic storyline of glory. Who doesn't love a good Ancient Egypt mummy. i swear Vampires and Tomb Kings would destroy everyone..but luckily for everyone they dont exactly work together

I have to say Dark Evles.
They have a cool backstory,a jealous king that doomed them all,a barren frozen hell-hole to live in,raiding fleets.

Plus you find out alot more in the Malus Darkblade books.

Whilst I'm a 40k player, I love the Skaven. Why? They're nuts little rat dudes that want to take over the world but never will, as they 'accidentally' assassinate the one person that gave them that opportunity.

Skavs as they've messed with just about everyone and the desciptions of their culture and psychology really add to the army.

Orcs & Goblins. They've clashed with everyone in the world, and through the rise and falls of various WHAAAGHs! they have actually shaped the history of the various nations, from the Empire and Brettonia to their eternal enemies the stunties, er, Dwarfs. Most people tend not to think so because of the fragmented bits of history they have. Still there is much story in there, trust me! Apart from them, I always loved the Tomb Kings, the idea of the Egyptian styled civilization is awesome.

Druchii, easily. Because they're fundamentally completely evil, but almost paradoxically also civilized. I love the Millennia-long civil war against their High Elf cousins. I love the fact that they hate everyone around them and the only reason they haven't completely collapsed into infighting is that they hate everyone else more. I love the bit where they're almost Chaos Elves, but not quite, they're too proud to bow down to the Chaos Gods, and therefore use them (or their daemons, whatever) as equals or servants. I know Khaine is pretty much Khorne, but the Khainites have built temples and everything, so they aren't quite that Khorne-y at that (much more to it than that, read Warpsword, the fourth Malus Darkblade novel, it's kinda awesome). I love the Witch King, he's pretty much one of the oldest living things in Warhammer, he's the ultimate Bloffeld-figure on his Iron throne looking down at a land he wishes to dominate. I love their slavery driven economy, and that each Dark Elf noble can basically roam about doing whatever they want unless Malekith calls them to war.

I also don't like the High Elves. All Elves are arrogant as hell, but the High Elves are supposed to some kind of good guys. The Druchii have the honestly to accept their douchebaggery and to embrace the fact that they aren't nice people. Same goes for Brettonia, in a way. The nobles get to ride about on horses, faff about questing for Grails and whatnot, while their peasants barely have enough resources to survive. Dark Elves are honest about the fact they own slaves. While other races have their faults and try to justify them with their morality and reasoning, the Druchii say 'Yep. We're evil, self-serving, backstabbing, blood-guzzling, arrogant gakkers.' And then they stab you in the eye, take all your money, enslave your family and eat your heart. How can you not love them?

Also: some people say they're the 'Fallen Elves'. I'd counter that and call them 'Enlightened Elves'.

Toss up for me. Empire is certainly colorful; BEST HUMANS IN FANTASY EVER! no exceptions feth gondor, feth rohan, feth stormwind, and burn in hell Tyrians.

But i would have to hand it to the Dwarves. Just a very colorful race and when you dig into it you can see a good deal of work.

I love the whole backstabin skavens aprt of their fluff and the part with their demonic god being half summoned gave me some goosebumps. And I LOLed when some of the skaven just died with their hearths busrting out of their chest when they saw him.

Chaos and Vampire Counts are cool too

Beastmen all the way, How can you NOT love a army filled with evil man eating goats? I mean serisosly, and theri whole feud with Sigmar and all is also pretty badass

Just the whole cycle of establishing an aristocracy and then having it fall, and then having the conflict coming from trying to take over the Empire is too cool.
Plus, they're awesome Vampires. Violence and death and all that fun stuff.

Loving the Tomb Kings fluff so far

I chose Skaven as they have an awesome...we are defeated, for now...feel to them.



But I do love the dark Elves, I love how they've come to accept their damnation, and instead of trying to reverse it, they revel in it. They adore the freedom they have, their ability to do what they want, and only pay the price for it if they absolutely have to.

I love Warriors of Chaos fluff. The fluff is just so dark and ironic that I get goosebumps whenever i read it. Besides, we got Archaon

Not a fan of any of the fluff for WHFB so I voted other thought the DE are quite cool but it's the usual torture people story....

I put Warriors of chaos as they are oringnal and in my opinion well fouded and solid because of the different factions

Empire is my favourite, i love all the experimental stuff, plus the ECW feel of the army, and the fact that they often fight among themselves. There is a lot of darkness too with the colleges of magic and the church.

I do wish there was more interaction between the armies instead of war though. the Luthor Huss story is my favourite
