My numbers are per wikipedia, so their accuracy is of course questionable, and I very much doubt that the census counts illegal immigrants, although not many of them play wargames so they wouldn't likely add to my point
It should also be noted that within a 90 minute drive 2 out of 3 flgs have no gaming space so they do nothing for me, and gaming at GW is like playing chess in a preschool.
I only really have 1 gaming option which is in riverside( GMI games, adventurers guild has been dead for gaming since around 2005). It's not exactly close by, which means if I go there it's an all day event.

The address listed for 'outpost games, llc' used to be other realms. I think the "Other Realms" crew tried to merge with Outpost, but went under, and took a friend's extremely well-painted Tyranids with them. :(

Remember, GW is a business. It is going to place more stores where they sell more. Think about the type of people who live in LA. Do you really think the majority are going to play a game where you buy expensive models and fight with them using dice and measuring tapes? Besides, I love my GW. I love the community there and there is almost always usually a place to paint/game.

I love the community there and there is almost always usually a place to paint/game. I do know GW is a business but a business that prides itself with no advertising and expanding by word of mouth (except for video games like dawn of war and warhammer online, but those are advertised by thq or ea games). So in my opinion having more "core gw" stores spread around will help bring in more customers and still adhering to their no advertising / word of mouth business growth model. The stores themselves aren't really about the table space ( imo) or playing skilled players or lack thereof but about having the product in stock and readily available or asking staff for advise on a rule, paint scheme, tips, whatever. I would think it to be better for a business to open stores at the major cities in the state so like shutting the one down in Richmond, VA doesn't help. Again this thread was to express my opinion that there aren't more stores nationwide but rather they want to concentrate on 10 major cities in the US. If I lived in Florida, I would not drive all the way to DC for a gws but as an example they have over 40 independent stores state-wide...obviously they have a ton of players that are into the game there otherwise those stores wouldn't be buying products to sell. I grew up in Jacksonville, FL for most of my life and never even heard of games-workshop. I looked up the stores at my zip code and found some store I frequented back when I was there in the 90s and never remember hearing about games-workshop. Now imagine if you would that if they placed a gws at one of the many malls in Jacksonville, I would have found out about it then and knowing my addictive personality would have immediately picked up the game. But I never knew who games-workshop was (I even played the first dawn of war and still never put 2 and 2 together when my friend in the summer of 2008 introduced me to the game). I'm just saying it would be nice to see an old company expand a little and they could do this easily. BTW: Here are the growth plans for the company. http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=3500005 Growth Plans: Games Workshop intends to open 100 shops in the next 5 years, mainly concentrated in the top 10 metropolitan areas of the United States. To facilitate this expansion plan, Games Workshop has built and opened a new state of the art manufacturing and distribution facility in Memphis, Tennessee.

Again I refer to my statistics on the Southern California store situation. Higher population and you can't say that Maryland is any more civilized than LA.
I'm not saying they should plop a game out in Bent Fork Kentucky, but a few more in one of the most densely populated areas of the country would be nice.

To be fair we're about to get 3 more stores in SoCal in the next few months. Which will bring us up to 10. I've heard that there are even more in the pipeline too. They are even opening one back up in Ventura (first one failed after only being open 2.5 years I think). They are building only in the major population centers (i.e. Houston, Los Angeles, Baltimore-ish, Chicago, and a few more) it's a smarter move on their part I think and the fact that they are mostly avoiding malls is a huge step forward. I know a bunch of my friends back up in Ventura were stoked when they opened up the Thousand Oaks store (in an excellent location where they should have put it the first time they headed up that way) and it's only gonna get better.
Oh and if you wanna get a game in sometime hit me Aerethan. I normally meet people at the bunker to play since I live in Huntington Beach.

I live in Hemet. Riverside County has 2 million people(still more than Baltimore area) and we have all of 2 stores, only 1 of which has a complete inventory and gaming space. That is about 45 minutes from me.
A decent store in Moreno Valley would be ideal.
I rarely venture north enough to get near the bunker, although GW did open a store 2 blocks from my dads house in Mission Viejo, and only about 10 years too late. I've been in there twice, and the last time I was the oldest person there out of a solid 20 people. And at 25 years I was an easy decade older than 1/2 those people.

Ahhh, yeah then your hosed. Wife's dad's lady friend lives out there. You've got a hike no matter how you cut it. At least you have GMI which is one of the best Independents I've ever been to as far as gaming space and actual product.

Not to say you don't know what you are talking about, but you don't know what you are talking about. The NCR (National Capital Region) has around 5,358,130 living in roughly a 60 mile radius. So, 1/60 of the pop of the USA lives in a 60 miles radius of DC. About 1/10 of the pop of the USA lives in CA and it is 3rd largest by area.
Our pop density is much much higher than CA.
