I think I can speak for everyone who has done battle reports in this fashion when I say they are extremely labour intensive... that's the main reason you don't see very many of them. They are fun as heck, but boy do they take a lot of work... especially when you're doing them by yourself. I'm considering doing a small video that shows just what goes into making one of these videos so people who want to make them can get some pointers and people who enjoy watching them know just what goes into them.

All that said... I think I'll have my part 2 done by the end of this month. I'm just finishing up turn 5 for the Tyranids this weekend... and there's not too much more after that.

Looks like the marines are owning the Nids so far

Way it should be.

Heh... yeah... the marines had ridiculously good luck and the Tyranids suffered from extremely poor rolls so that slants the results a bit. The game does end up being close though (and the random game length plays a pivotal role).

The Tyranids in this battle report are being played with the older codex (one edition older than the current).

The games take a lot longer to play due to repeated stopping to take pic, etc.

Then add on 5-8 hours plus of post production, editing, effects, etc., etc.

In the future I plan to setup for nicer pictures after the game is done using the rough pictures as a guide. It's hard to get lighting and composition the way you want it with tons of miniatures all over the board (as well as people who don't want to take 10 hours to play a game).

As for post production? I wish it was 8 hours... mine took more like 40 hours of work... lol. I would guess that IronBear's video took him a good amount of time as well.

Didn't you win 500 bucks with this vid?

Join the Imperial Guard. The pay's lousy, the battles fierce and you probably won't ever come back again. BUT you get a lasgun.

Nope, I was disqualified from entering because I couldn't get my entry uploaded in time (had major problems with youtube that night). I would have had a good shot at it... but IronBear's winning entry was very good as well.

This Batrep was posted 8 months ago. You've commited Thread-o-mancy.

Yeah, good batreps, but in good internet/forum manners, we leave decaying threads undisturbed, unless there's something *really* important to bring up.

This *IS* really important!

I've been eagerly waiting on the very edge of my seat for AzurePhoenix to finish this bat rep. His work is simply amazing!!

I'd be really interested to see the video of what goes into making one of these too.

These are excellent, shows that it isn't just dice rolling and turns, but you imagining the gunfire, the voices, everything. Great job!

Agreed, awesome reports.

Just a rules query to go with it. Can Killa Kans or Dreads move 6 on the whagh? They are walkers, technically infantry, but in their 'special rules' part, whagh is not listed there as one of their abilities.

Record:

8th edition:
Tyranids: 5-4-3
Orks: 4-2-1

5th edition

Orks:18-5-1
Tyranids: 17-10-4

6th edition

Tyranids: 6-4-1
Orks: 3-1-0
