ok, the model is finished. I didn't trim the back cause it fitted perfectly with the backplate of an old chimera I had left over.
I also tried to use a molded out fist and shoe for the dents in the top and the lower rear, but it hasn't worked out that well.

I'll show the paintjobs in a few weeks, now I need to spend some time with Anung un Ramas XBox360 :-)

I like the dents and the ogrynn sticking out! You do realize you put the driver's window upside down?

I like the parts sticking out, not such a big fan of the one in the little window/old lasgun hole. I would fill them in and paint them as windows. Also the crooked imperial signs on the side are bothering me. Cool looking Chimera though, you should get a pic beside a regular one so we can see a size comparison.

I like it a lot. It captures the humour that I feel surrounds the Ogryn. One question: how did you do the dents? I think I could see myself putting some of those on my vehicles inward for "battle damage".

@ daedalus: I used a jetflame lighter to soften the plastic (very carefully) and then pushed with a thick brush ending (not the top of course) from the other side.

the bump in the top was made with the same method, but i used a LOTR Ogre fist, didn't work out as it should though.

A good trick is use to tap a blunted nail through the back of thin sheet plasticard; so, you could cut squares to size and add rivets (or dents for that matter) without having to go through the misery of cutting plasticard rod or the frustration of making a bit fit.

NP somthing imperial guard like would be armour pates, like just attached at the top and over lapping like a skirt.. errr... cant explain but overlapping plates a 45 degrees. if any1 else knows what im on about can you please explain!!!!

Nice chimera!

I like it, not a great fan of the lone head, it looks a bit like its floating, mabye give it some shoulders

The head looks really off for a few reasons. First it's pretty low in the vehicle, second the expression is just odd. The arm coming out the other side doesn't look that hot either. In general I just don't think the idea works more for the points you've chosen i.e. really low on the vehicle, rather than the concept being bad. Expanding the lasgun ports with an arm and head busting out would probably work a good bit better.

Small techinical detail here, the boxes on the side of the Chimera are for the engines, so it's more than a little odd for the bulges to be there. Even barring that though, they're still going through the track assembly. It looks cute until you start thinking about what the Ogryn would have to punching through (engings, tracks, bogeys, etc.) to achieve the holes. Back and top would be more accesible to the Ogryns and seeing as how they have been corraled through the back it seems more likely their tiny brains would register that as being the way out. It's made all the more odd by all of the blank plasticard mounted higher up that would've been near perfect locations for the dents.

I like the concept, but some of the execution just comes across as strange and unintuitive.

@ Mastershake: Thanks for the input. I thought the Lasguns holes where just too small to put the head or the arm there. Puting them to the bottom just shows that they try to get out wherever it is possible and yeah, the holes where aleready there.

The problem is that the blank part in the upper part is not plasticcard but foamboard which is very difficult to "dent". Your argument with the tracks is quite a heavy one though...



Anyway, model's finished, paintjob ist done. But I'm still looking for some painting details (apart from the roughly painted 42 on the front) that show that that is an Ogryn chimaera. Any ideas ?

I'm not incredibly sure about the head you've got sticking out there. It looks like he'd have to be laying down to reach that window.

Perhaps some sort of serial number/code thing?

E.g. 442-C-S/O (Chimera number 442, C company, Special duty/Ogryn)

Is that Ogryn stoned?
looks good, but yeah, i agree with Mastershake's points.
cool concept though.
