Great fluff.

All plastic.

easy to paint compared to some of the stuff out there.

While not an 'easy' army to win with, they can always put up a fight.

You can do always switch up codexs. I used to switch my imperial fists between space wolves and regular mariens as I saw fit.

I like to see someone impress me as to why xenos are soo good to be honest.

I like eldar but an army of wave serpents is kinda boring..

Tyranids and necrons have no personality..

Guard and orks need way too many models.

Chaos are awesome but I already like them and they are marines.

So tell me why are xenos superior.. other then you just like them?

And that hating marines is cool and grows your epeen.

GW sees sales go up, so release more marines, driving more sales. GW sees the sales as indicative of a lack of interest in Xenos, and neglect Xenos in favor of Marines. People react by avoiding Xenos and investing in what they see as a more supported product.

GW proclaims themselves genius prophets, and release moar Spess Mahreenz.

Highly accurate and completely true.

If they just kept them in one book to keep the release a little more balanced then they would be fine.

I don't think SMs are boring in themselves.

It's just that there are so many SM armies around that the variety provided by other factions is reduced.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

All the threads lately have been why are they releasing space marine codices? Blah blah its a marine I got to hate it because they are cool. Hell playing marines for me is fun, I enjoy it. But in the end if Eldar were the most popular then we would have people go off on a rant about why the hell are they already releasing the Baal'tan sect of Eldar before we got the new Tyranids codex since it is so out of date, or to the same response of cut and paste the race that doesn't deserve one.

We know for a fact that Necrons, Dark Eldar, and some other codices need an update and not in any order except for the the ones that you guys want to play where. In the end we already know that Games workshop works on Codices for both warhammer and fantasy, and many other games. I hope that new codices come out just as much as the next guy because this means a race that I wouldn't consider is now something that I would like to play.

Alright im done ranting out, in the end Dark eldar will get a new codex and all of us will just take a big dump in our pants of excitement. But as for now we get space marines, for whatever reason the gods decided to favor the heroes of 40k.

Oh, I don't hate marines, I like the novels about them etc. But, I guess I'm the kind of guy who likes to play the least played armies... (I play 40k Space orks (only one at my FLGS) and Ogre kingdoms (also only one)).

But still, I would prefer if there was a proper balance in how many people play each army, it's boring to go to a tourney or just for fun matches, and have 3/4 be SM. I even prefer fightning Necron's lately.

People don't hate marines. People hate one army being so popular that it can be hard to get a game with anyone except marines. If eldar were this popular we would complain about them instead.

I've never really understood people's complaints about 'soo many marines.' Considering three quarters of players in my group play 'Nids. Guard has a bunch, and Eldar as well.

I'm the only Marine player in my area.

Soladrin I'm not trying to defer people from their opinions its just that to tell the truth I actually like having a different army than my opponent im actually the same way I like to play the underdog armies.

This is good.... isn't it?

I can remember a GW staff member telling how much Orks suck and how crappy they are at shooting so I would start playing Spehss Marinez!1!
To prove his point, he said that he would show me how good they were in battle by versing my orks.
His army had suffered 70% losses by turn three.

Pwned.

I started out with Ultramarines with the AoBR set, switched to Imperial Fists because ultrasmerfs are boring and I love all their siege fluff. Yellow was too hard to paint. I loved DoW so I switched to Blood Ravens.
I went to a doubles tournament a few weeks ago and 2/3 games were against marines. game one i versed IG and Tau. Game two I versed Ultramarines and SW. Game 3 I versed Ultamarines and 'Nids (Behemoth of all things! ).

I'm starting to grow bored of vanilla marines, so I may start BA when the codex is released. I do so wish I did some sort of non-marine army, but I just can't fathom the idea of playing as a trecherous heretic or foul xenos.

Various chapters to chose from with their own characteristics, cool models like the thunderfire, wide chance to customize tanks from rhinos through to raiders, bikes and speeders of various types, drop pods, and the fact that nearly everything is available in plastic which makes converting so much easier. Plus of course many of their figures and vehicles have interchangeable parts with the chaos legions making them even more customisable.

Guard? Witch Hunters? Daemon Hunters?

Let's see... they have big assed weapons, cool armor, Judge Dread bikes, slick ultra-modern tanks, and skulls by the bucket load. What more could a post-pubescent boy want?

Guard I do like, but I'm afraid the Inquisition just don't do it for me; far too sinister, much too ungallant.
