I play Eve Online. I think that says everything that needs to be said. But I love Eve, BECAUSE you can get Ganked, anywhere, at any time, and it's a Real loss, and they WILL Hound you and Rub it in your face. And if you don't like it, tough, just bring a Bigger ship and bring more friends

That's the point were I quit, and glad of it .
I just played WoW on Hamaroush (North America) for four months last year and had lots of fun. Some dude was complaining about getting ninja'd the general consensus was, "welcome to Hamaroush." I have kind of felt like playing again, actually.

Don't let people put you off Eve; it is by far the most advanced and mature MMO out there. It's hard, and long may it stay that way. You can lose everything in minutes, but you can do the same to other players. Also, there is a fantastic community behind it, demonstrated in the string of awards it has won. Players will help you if you ask sensible questions.
Eve is a beautiful game but a harsh mistress. It is the only MMO I have ever played, and WoW looks laughable in comparison. Give the free trial a spin and see how you get on. If you have any questions you can send me a PM here on Dakka and I'll see if I can help.

I am in the exact same mondset. Eve is my First and Only love. I have had weeks of work ripped from me in seconds, and I have done the same to others. It has a REAL economy, so much so they actually hired a REAL LIFE ECONOMIST (with PHDs and all that jazz) to keep tabs on it.

The game is going to get officially announced this coming E3, and with the rumors so far it's going to be a huge hit.
It's a fair looking site, needs more members though.
Best I've seen so far is..

Although its early days yet.

Anybody actually play Champions Online? I've found it to be a lot of fun, and at least at low to mid levels, there's a pretty good community. The biggest thing is, it's really hard to be a ninja (As in, steal things right before others take them). Tag a mob and kill it first? Nope - everyone gets credit if they did some damage to it, whether they're in a group or not. Steal drops before others? Possible, but still difficult as most drops respawn fast enough that you'll never steal them all.
Although it does have its fair share of glitches with such an open-ended combat system (Moving between air and ground almost freely), it's a lot of fun to play, and the community's pretty nice with the lack of jerks around.

I agree with you guys but I had to stop playing purely because at the top level you have to put so much time into it with meetups every night to take on Goon Swarm in some shape or form. When i stopped playing in January I think I had around 11mil SP and I was in the AAA alliance. Just got to where i wanted to be and real life took over. I'm kinda tempted to plug back in again but on a lower level like a corp in high Sov space because it is an amazing game. So yeah the community with the right mix of guys in any game can be awesome. I used to play City of Heroes to which was a very freindly team orintated game.

Thank GW for 40k, which keeps me sane

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.
Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

So tempted to re-log. Ive been offered a one day logon because ive got over 500mil isk sitting there doing nothing. Definelty suggest giving this game a go if you havent before.
I've played...
WOW - Got bored after two months
Warhammer Online - While in Beta, didnt think much of it.
City Of Heroes - Great game, great social side, gets boring after 40 levels.
Eve Online - Easily the best MMORPG out there.

Well, i tried a few while i was off of work for a few days and i have played a few of the other games mentioned.
WoW= 5 years of my MMO life, loved it in Vanilla, TBC was ok kinda spacey for my Fantasy likes, LK well it was fun for a while then new raids came and went and was fun again. but sitting with full T10 and nothing really to do that is new. it got boring. I did the whole HWL grind in vanilla and well it almost cost me my wife...
WaR= played at the end of beta and then again for about 2 months after launch and really enjoyed the PvP of that game soo much better it seemed balanced and fun but with no friends to play with it got old once realizing that the primary End game was City raids.
EvE = Now that is an MMO, i spent hours just creating ships in programs while mining in fields. worked my way up to 5's (missions) acquired almost a Bil isk. went to 0.0 and had a blast with the no law area but for some reason i just stopped playing. still a great game.
LotrO = played for a few days with the demo and it really didn't click for me not sure why but wasn't my thing.
DDO = I was so excited to play this and was so let down by the Graphics of it all.
Archlord = the horror of a Korean MMO destroyed me for most of these games that they spit out at you every few months.
For the most part i think i'll just focus on my Marines and wait for the SW:TOR MMO that is looking better and better every new update. And the 40k MMO which i hope will be good too.
