I think they are scary as all get out. But I do agree with them being 50/50. Last night I played against 2 different armies, one w/ 2 @ 1500 and one w/ 1 @ 1000. During the 1500 pt game both combined to kill a total of 2 Noise Marines! So they were largely ineffective. However in the second game the one Vindie managed to take out 3 NM, 2 Rhinos, and wound my DP once. So ymmv, but I thnink the more the merrier!

I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

I put both the Storm Bolter and the Hunter Killer Missile on it.
This give you one more hit you can take and if the big gun qoes down you still have one AT weapon left

His point in adding it wasn't to preserve the demolisher cannon, it was to keep the tank rolling after a second weapon destroyed result. You take a vindi for the cannon, but once that's gone a mobile piece of terrain that can ram/tankshock is better than an immobile wreck. The fact that your guarantee of that also shoots, regardless of how effectively it does so, is a bonus. Even if I was just paying 5 points for an upgrade that let me possibly ignore one immobilized result, I'd take it, more than likely.

Vindicator is bad choise. With so many mech armies on field it can't do job good. U need to hit transport or other vehicle and it is hard. You need to penetrate it's armour and it is easy with vindicator. But most difficalt is to roll high on damage table and it is difficalt again. For CSM oblits or predator do job better and (with predator) cheaper. C:SM too have a lot other ways to deal with mech and infantry. Vindicator only good for Blood Angels becose it is fast, but still this new flier still better Heavy Support choise.
For me i use 2 vindicators, but after a lot of playtest i prefer to use 2 predators.

I've had success using two vindis in my loyalist marine army. For a chaos list I prefer obliterators. They are simply the best heavy support unit available to chaos.

That's exactly what I use mine for. A vindicator flanked by two crusaders full of terminators will give your opponent a heat attack.

The additional benefit of keeping a LR (of any variety) close to the vindi is that it's fairly easy to maneuver them so that LOS is completely blocked to the vindi. Armor Infinity is pretty nice...

As for popping transports, i leave that up to other things. You use the vindis to kill the occupants.
