right - so I've given the fins another go with my peacock colour scheme - and now I'm even more undecided. I like the blue, but now I'm liking the gold again!
The gold just seems simpler, cleaner, less obtrusive. But I like the blues because it's contrasting and adds more pattern, and I like the dark stripes.
decisions, decisions...

thoughts?

(just looked at her again... the blue doesn't look as bright as it does here - must be the flash. The stripes aren't as strong either)

For me, I love the blue you have done now looks more like a natural colour than the gold imo.

I think the gold would become too overpowering if you added it to all of the models fins. The blue on the other hand will fit in nicely.

I think the blue is much better. The contrast on the gold is nice but it just doesn't look like it should be on a living being. Maybe keep it for any armour or added decorative bits?

Blue looks good; it kinda reminds me of an iguana, or some sort of fish. Gold looks too armory.

thanks for the comments : )

Looks like blue it is - I agree with you that the gold is a little too man-made, and there is the armour on the head that I was going to do bronze, so there will be some metallic on her.

Necroman: yeah, I'm kinda thinking iguana for the tail, where there are dark stripes going onto the tail, that become bands and then it looks as if her tail is dark with light bands - that's the plan anyway! : )

Why don't you have a look at a basic colour wheel for inspiration?
For example, you have done the majority of the dragon as a blue-green
So if you go with contrasting colours you could do a red-yellow to get a varied contrast.

That might work, but then you are the trial and error painter, not me so....

lol
I'd like to say that I plan everythingin advance when I'm painting, but I'd be lying. Things just tend to happen, nad good ideas come and go. Like with my Farseer - I'd planned him to be in grey, but it just looked dull... good idea that will be used elsewhere : )
