Taking 2 lascannons in each Dev Squad to ward off very heavy armour....
Dropped the plasma pistols as too costly
Not taking Sergeants with power weapons in tac squads, as combat squads not going to get into CC if I can help it.

Terminator squads provide heavy support (and more bodies) for Command Squad and Captain..

Assault Squad kept in cover to mop up or defend Dev teams..

Thunderfire Cannons are awsome in my opinion, I play one in pretty much every game that I play SM. 4 str6 ap4 shots a turn plus other shooting modes = win. Not to mention that the unit, the cannon and techmarine is just 25 points for then a techmarine with a servo harness.

Corennus wrote:Dreadnoughts: Haven't got autocannons!

Its a problem we all run into, the Dreadnought box doesnt come with anywhere close to all the weapons that a dreadnought can field. Ive made some autocannons for the few I field out of some hurricane bolter pieces from an ironclad dreadnought and some cadian heavy weapons team bits. I've also bought some autocannons and plasma cannons from forge world.

Something to think about may be to play your shooty dreads with with an autocannon and a plasma cannon depending on how lucky you are with artillary dice. And I actually prefer Ironclad Dreads for assulting, 1 Seismic Hammer, 1 DCC, 1 heavy flamer and a melta equals win in my book.

Well i've dropped my dreadnoughts in favour of more terminators. YES they'll be footslogging it along but with an assault cannon and cyclone (and 9 Storm Bolters!) they should be able to give as much if not more heavy firepower than 2 dreadnoughts.

And 8 power fists and 2 power swords are not to be sniffed at either.

Of course I have no idea what enemy i'll be facing.....

Have changed the plasma pistols in the command squad for combi-meltas.

Taking 4 ML in both Dev squads instead.

Given both tac squads a teleport homer. That way the Terminators can deep strike into action.

The problem I have with terminators is that statistically speaking all you have to do to kill one is shot it six times with an ap anything weapon. And with the way I roll terminator saves its even easier to kill mine. Hell, I lost a TH/SS terminator to both a grot shooting attack and a grot cc attack.

Im much more confidant in letting someone else fail to penetrate my dreads armour then I am in rolling my own terminators 2+ save

for sheer amount of firepower i'd go for a terminator squad over a dread any day. After all, if a dread gets hit by a lascannon it could be bye bye dread. If a Terminator gets hit by a lascannon you lose one terminator. Still got four going.

I COULD change one of my terminator squads to CC and have it deep strike next to my tac squads when they're nearly up to the enemy.......

Assault terminators will get shot up when deep striking; do not do it. They need land raiders.

Hellfire man you've tied my hands with that. You need transports mate. You're just going to have to bite the bullet and buy some either way. Without them you lose protection and mobile.

Though, I am not giving up. So leave it with me and I'll write something on my blog. Though it will include more armour though mate, something I cannot get around it's either take it or don't.
