Except that Drones are wargear and not squad members

Except they are models, and the rules only care about models being removed.

Nothing states they are not models, so they are models. If you state they are not squad members then you will have a dificulty ever firing with your gun or marker drone, as you can only fire one weapon per model.

except that wargear is assumed to be integrated and does not have to be represented. Meaning no model.

Meaning no firing, as you are only given permission to fire *1* weapon per MODEL, unless you are a monstrous creature.

Assumiung you want to take silly RAW to the extreme (can have drones with no means to control them)

So if you represent them as actual models (in order to shoot with them) then they DO count for morale checks regardless of the presence of a drone controller

If you dont represent it, then no shooting, no point taking them.

If you do, moral rules take priority, and due to permissive rules the entry in the tau dex only further reinforces the requirement to include them in moral checks if you have a drone controller but doesnt remove the need to do a check if you dont.

Ok, no shooting. Then what about the wounds?

Only models take wounds, so if you do represent them, they could take wounds, but they also count for moral, if you dont represent them then no extra wounds.

As Seriphis says, ify ou dont represent them you cannot allocate wounds to them.

if you take 3 different drones with no controller they are an extra unit each - 3 x 1 drone units

i hope you are not playing KP's

imagine if you took 10 drones - that 10 extra kp's as they cannot be one big unit either

i doesn't make sense to me to play like this

Wargear isn't a unit and can't give up KPs.
