Which you'll note was a different colour to the proper Iron Man suit justifying the sale of a new toy.

Briefcase armor is much older than that, he's had since at least the 70s.

Lawl they don't need something to be in a film to justify selling a new toy *motions towards the toys of iron man in his suit on red and gold bikes and in red and gold cars*

And yar, though the main era I remember it from was this. As the 70's one is a little before my time.

I'm pretty sure Nick Fury is supposed to be white. Also Whip lash should have more armour adn a mask on his face.

as pictured earlier by another poster, ultimates nick fury is based on sam l. jackson and he obviously didn't mind being offered the part that was based on him in the first place. was whiplash's suit supposed to be a nod to the crimson dynamo at the end? with the skirt, it reminded me of his armor except for, you know, it wasn't red/crimson.

all in all, i thought it was still good but not great like the first. they seemed to ratchet up everything except for the plot up to an 11 at the expense of the plot. tony stark was TOO snarky and cavalier.

He is/was. But in the early 2000s Marvel launched a new line of comics called 'Ultimate ___' (Ultimate Spiderman, Ultimate X-Men, the Ultimates etc). In those books Fury is not only black, but also looks just like Samuel L Jackson, the logic being that Nick is supposed to be the coolest guy in the world and who's cooler than Jackson?

I totally agree Whiplash should have had more armor esp in the first fight. I just assumed he had a force field.

I liked the movie as far as sumer flicks go. And did anyone else see cap's shield in the film, If anything they are gonna build hype for the next two films and the avengers so non comic fans go. Overall I did enjoy the film.

ok iron man is my favorite superhero since ever and i was over joyed with all of the action in the movie because personally i am a firm beleiver in the fact that you get all of your story and plot in the beginning so you can make awesome action in the rest of the movie.

comics books have never needed a ton of plot, spider-man was bitten by a radioactive spider and they just left it at that, they didn't go into that story much farther than that, batman's parents died and he wanted revenge, and it's all history from there. comic books are focused on making an introduction and then creating villians and fights, with a little bit of story arc to keep it interesting and a tiny bit intelectually stimulating.

as for the iron man and war machine repulsor blast killing whiplash it's extremely plausable. the two rays are shooting energy in the form of super speeded up eletrons or plasma (i believe this is correct), and what happens when you slam two really fast moving electrons into each other... you guessedd it small thermonuclear blast. right in front of whiplash's face... which was not armored. iron man and war machine were fully armored and not as close to the blast. i was overall just mad that the fight was so short, it was a lot of hype for a fight scene so short.

i loved the movie but as aformentioned i'm biased because i love iron man and he's awesome. and i thought there wern't any inconsistantcies at all in the movie.

wait. . . no, a thermonuclear blast would be produced by nuclear fusion or fission, the atom splitting would cause a nuclear blast, and with a nuclear blast the distance of a few yards wouldn't matter. . . this was also my beef with the first movie's ending
Thought I do agree that the fight was far too short, reminded me of the 10 second end fight with Transformers 2

Look, it's all made up science. How can you be sure Whiplash didn't have an invisible plasma deflecting shield in front of his face?
