So, I usually name important people in my army, especially for the battle reports if they're a narrator.

Currently, I'm running Al' Rahem, and I'm calling him Rhamael. Not only does Rhamael use exactly the same letters as Al'Rahem, but if you pronounce the dipthong as an improper one, his name sounds very much like "Rommel", another desert special character if ever there was one.

There are a few terms I've picked up over the years though learning from others, and personal quirk.

For example, everyone knows that the large template is a "pie plate" but for some reason, I call the deliverers thereof "splat cannons", and if artillery is firing directly rather than indirectly, it's firing in "point-and-smear" mode.

Also, for me a LRBT with a hull heavy bolter and sponson heavy bolters is a "bolter boat" russ. If something is taken as-is with no upgrades, it's "bog standard" (thank you 40kO). Nid lists with lots of MCs are "bugzilla" lists.

And when stuff deepstrikes, I always imagine them showing up and saying "peekaboo!"

We Had a Squad of Catachan Guard used as Veterans by my friends Cadian army.

They were Painted with Khaki short shorts and Pink tank tops.

and they were named. "Quincy and his gay guardsmen". shooting attacks would destroy them, but if you tried to assault them you were screwed, no one, won an assault against them.

They won way to many games single handily, if you insulted them you were doomed to loose, at one point I believe my friend had gotten them a chimera but that was after I moved.

I call my own IG list as the "Imperium's UN forces" 'cause i use every IG miniature that i have, but always using them in non mixed squads, so, the bulk are cadians, a smaller section formed by catachan people, a squad of Ghosts, a squad of tallarn.... together.... not mixed

I borrowed from a book series I enjoyed, The Black Company by Glen Cook. Characters and Sgts have 'names' in a sense. "Captain" Vagabond, Annulist Bosco, Sgt Mercy....

We have a the title of "Bob".....and one unit that does some killer stuff is renamed "Bob". In a 5 way 1000 point game..... A lone scout with missile launcher was falling back. Then regrouped at the table edge (3rd ED) and then went on to kill my "Old One Eye" 5 times....then he never got back up and the scout when on to kill 5 tanks,just crazy. We had two "Bob's" in that game. So we renamed OOE to "Old One Nut or Old One Ball"

That reminds me of my friends space wolves back in the day. He had a wolf guard w/ mark of the wulfen for which he had a converted wulfen model with a power weapon. We named him Bob Barker and whenever he would commence the beat down of my units I would always say "I hate that Bob Barker" .

Seraphim Squad = Suffer'in Squaws (always seemed to get blasted in the most spectacular ways)

Immolator = Molester (You get shot by it and see how you feel)

Exorcist = Existentialist (You are very dead, or maybe not)

Celestian Squad = Molestian Squad (usually sitting in the Molester)

Rhino = Whino (Did I get shot and explode AGAIN!)

Necron Scarabs = Necro-Scabies (or the deathly itch)

Necron Immortal = Necron Immoral (What are you doing with that big gun?!)

Captain Tycho = Captain Psycho (obvious I know)

Basilisk = Bad-Disk (It hurts! it hurts!)

Hellhound = Hellbound (I am in a big hurry to get close and EXPLODE! when poked with a stick!)

Leman Russ Battle Tank = Leman Wuss Battle Crate

Wraithlord = Wraith-lord-mother-mother... (think of Space Lord by Monster Magnet)

Grey Knights = Gay Knights (I will color their books rainbow, obvious I know...)

Land Raider = Brick of Death (sorry nothing elegant here...substitute anything square-ish and durable i.e cinder-block of death, paper weight of doom?)

Space Wolves = Space Wives - they whine, they take offense easy, they keep a home against all-comers, they are pro-lifers (more the merrier), look out for those claws!

Infantry: mans/doodz, or similar. Sometimes infantrymans.

Chaplains: Chaptermans

Eldar: Spehss Elfs

Chaos (any sort) : Choss/Gayoss

Ork warboss: The Incredible Mulk

GUO: The Ingestable Bulk

Close combat: The salt mines (loooooooong story...)

I play Eldar but have little respect for two of the warrior aspects in the current rules. To me they are Swooping Chickens and Jumping Spiders
My brother had a recurring Chaos Lord in his old army lists... like 2nd or 3rd ed when you could really cheese up on wargear. For some reason he got labelled with the name Captain Binkie. And I don't think I ever did kill that

I give completley unique names to all my heroes/ mains. E.G. my current wolf lords name is Ahshran Ookami, as well as my other HQ, my rune priest is Whanta Windreaper (Weird I know, but hey, who aint?)
