Here is how I run mine:

Lemartes
5x DC/jump packs, 3x power weapon, power fist infernus pistol
Stormraven/extra armour, TL multi-melta, TL lascannon
Death Company dreadnaught/heavy flamer, Blood Talons

Lemartes is an upgrade character so he can't be targeted in close combat. Very sick stuff.

Damn, that is a lot of points for three units, but it IS very killy indeed. Do you deepstrike them near the enemy or do you deploy them on the board and move flat out instead?
What type of army do you field them with; jump, mech or mixed? I have read a lot of discussions about the stormraven, and a lot of people were uncertain if it could make it to the enemy lines at all with only armour 12/12, while being a huge target hovering above the board.
Do you get mileage out of that combination in most games, or do they just get blown to bits while the rest of the army get stuck in?

I actually came up with almost that exact unit when brainstorming transport methods for my DC, but I decided that it was too risky and too huge of a target when fielded with a jump army, so I decided to go with the drop pod + Land Raider for only 80 points more.

I've been having success with Stormravens in my lists. I haven't been playing Death Company that much (large unit in my curent list though) but when you go first with Stormravens on the table, they do work. Lots of it. They have some great versatility and their speed gives them survivability (cover save) while PotMS allows them to keep shooting while going fast. When needed, they can also lay down a ton of firepower at once if they release their missiles + other guns all at once.

Going second they're a little tricky since they don't get a chance to protect themselves before they get shot by most of the opposing army. With Extra Armor and PotMS though, they are more or less immune to shaken/stunned results.

It is an expensive points investment and they are sometimes a little awkward if the rest of your army can't keep up with them to support them, but they can be very good when played correctly. I really like them. I had 2 in my list for a long time, but I'm giving 1 a try for now to try and get some other toys into my list (Vindicators/Mephiston).

I'll repeat my DC deathstar list here:

Lemartes + 5xDC/jump packs, infernus pistol, 3x power sword, power fist
Death Company dreadnaught/heavy flamer + Blood Talons
Stormraven/extra armor, TL lascannon, TL multi-melta

I like to run this deathstar with the Sanguinor & a Furioso dreadnaught (2x DCCW & heavy flamer) in another Stormraven. I tend to deploy the Stormravens deep in a corner so I can move them both 6", alphastrike with the Blood Missiles to take out enemy vehicles then go hunting. The trick is to keep the Sanguinor close enough so that he can cast his +1 attack bubble on the other units. They never fail to rampage through enemy flanks. It's disgusting. They work best when I can link the units into combi assaults and inflict as many wounds as possible. Lots of stuff goes splat !! The pair of dreadnaughts is a very hard counter to armies like orks & Tyranids, quickly cutting through their hordes so I can then focus on their hardest units. I rarely deepstrike the Stormravens but I will most definitely do so versus mech IG. I can fire both of the Stormravens' TL multi-meltas using PotMS plus fire all the other melta weapons into other tanks. It's really nice having the jump infantry quickly placed in a location where they can do the most damage.

Lemartes is a beast in close combat & well worth his points. He & the Sanguinor I feel are the two best special characters in the codex and they work very well together.
