Just remember, this is a hobby, not a job. If you're not enjoying what you're working on then you are doing something wrong.

I try to think "out of the box" when working on something I consider boring or annoying. Adding a painting\drawing on the vehicle or putting some dead bodies on it adds to the fun. Even have graffiti such as "BIG GUNZ" on a tank barrel. Stuff like that. In other words, I guess I try to add as much fun details as I can.

Currently collecting and painting Eldar from W40k.

Well you see here boy'o painting tanks is completely easy and you can make em look good in maybe an hour n a half.... Now then you must think i am crazy but wait heres the trick , all you need is 3(or more) diferent colours of spraypaint and go for a "cloud-like" camo design, afterwards picking out the little details such as lights, weaponry, tank commander (if used) and the treads. Now then i wish i had thought of this 4 years sooner but due to reading my own post i now know how to do my tanks. HUZZAH!

p.s. only problem will be that your tanks will not match the rest of your army...... most of the times

WAAAHG!!! until further notice

I like painting tanks but i finish them far to fast! Basecoat, paint with a large brush, detail guns, crew an treads, cover in wash and leave to dry....done in one morning, which you may agree is rather annoying when you only have the budget to buy 1 or 2 units once a fortnight. Then again it can be considered a boon if you need it for youre next match.

I like doing tanks. I just spray them then paint details and stuff.

I've never felt there are huge panels wanting detail but if I felt like that I would put some markings on them.

I agree if you want them to look weathered it is more work.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I don't think you can get away with doing a Deathwing Land Raider entirely with sprays

(Not mine)

See the brown in the recesses? I guess you could wash that on after a spray, but imo if you want your edges and recesses looking proper the bone'll have to go on by hand...

I love doing eldar tanks, except for the pilot(s) (two pilots if I'm painting / assembling a Falcon, Fire Prism or Night Spinner, one if I'm doing a WS). They're small and fiddly, and to be honest, I'm not the best person at painting faces (you don't get any eldar helmets in vehicles, unlike you do in WWs). Also they have to be painted separately. None-the-less, I was able to print a huge Eldar rune on my WS because of the surface area available (still a WIP).

Try making and painting a stormraven - halfway through painting, you have to get out the files and sandpaper and then replace all of the rivets you took off.

Okay, I've been on a bit of a hiatus 2011-14

Currently working on my Riot Guard.

I love painting tanks. There's not a lot of detailing and its easier to hide mistakes. With small figures I really have to use a steady hand to paint them.
