There are some charectors that you should stay away from.

Sicarus is really just an overglorified Captain that allows you to give a Special rule to a Tactical squad and reroll to see who goes first. He is ok for his cost, but unless you really plan on using the special abilities he has.

Calgar is really just a CC monster. He brings the option to have MOAR overpriced ineffective Honor Guard(I love the unit and what it can do, but they are way too expensive) the God of War special rule is meh.

Tigerius is too expensive for what he does(and it is impressive what he can do) No options makes him fragile and too easy to take down.

Go reread Cato's entry. Rites of Battle is awesome. As long as Cato is on the board, every Marine model with a LD value counts as being LD 10 for purposes of morale tests and you still have access to Combat Tactics with him for the auto-fail and run ability. In Ardboyz, that prevented my attack bike squadrons from running off the board at least six times. It is also especially good for scenarios in which you combat squad because now the halves without Sergeants gain access to better leadership as well. The ability he gives to a tactical squad and the reroll Seize the Initiative are just bonuses. The real goodness is Rites of Battle.

Im planning on some games over July using Cato - what PanzerLeader states above is why. Will prob take 3 tac squads, not sure best special ability for one of those squads yet, not planning on counter attack so will be infiltrators or tank hunters.
