I think I have had my realm of disbelief stretched four of five times in this one thread.

Best quote I ever heard was my friend Gray from Lower48. I was subbing for drummer for his band and we decided to get hammered after our show. We lived in the Bronx, northern NYC... There's a zoo there... So our drunk asses hopped the fence and ran around the zoo in the middle of the night. All of a sudden I look over and there's Gray pointing and laughing hysterically... "WHAT the hell is a polar bear doing in the BRONX?!" It seemed like a logical question at the time. But then I felt it was probably time to get his happy ass home for the night. Wierd how most of my heroism moments involve booze on someone's part...

Retroactively applied infallability is its own reward. I wish I knew this years ago.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly.

while on a serving with 2nd MSOB we took IDF (indirect fire) at about two in the morning, I flew out of my sleeping bag wearing nothing but my skivvies, jumped into my sandals and grabbed my SAW at mach fething 5 (I was 1 of 2 support gunners for team 3). needless to say it was a hilarious sight me running around scared shitless with nothing but underwear, sandals, and a machine gun. we only took about three mortars before the insurgents broke off the attack, so not necessarily heroic, but no one died, and I rank it as hands down one of the most awesome moments of my life, despite getting an chewing for not wearing proper ppe.
