You don't have Anvil's "Forged in Fire" or Deep Purple's "Machine Head".

As far as bands go, everything listed on my site is available through my distributors who get their stuff directly from the record labels. So yeah, I would hope the bands are getting paid

for images, it's going to take me about a year (really) to get everything updated. Basically, I started with a mega huge list of artists and albums, and I imported that into my ecommerce software and that created a list of products, but I still have to go into each and every product separately to add descriptions, images, track listing, etc. I can also embed youtube videos too which is cool I can update about 40-50 a night before my mouse hand wants to fall off. So it's just gonna take a while. Plus, there's also usually 50+ new items to add every week between new releases, reissues, etc.

For the design, I wanted to keep it clean and easy to find what you want. I'll still be doing a lot of tweaks here and there to make it more "metal". I should be getting my credit card merchant account set up this week so it will make ordering a lot smoother instead of having to use paypal.

I also plan to set up coming soon lists and have pre orders with discounts once I get that going. Only thing is my distributors don't say what's coming soon till like a week or 2 away (they learned from GW I guess) so I have to dig around the web to find release dates and new stuff ahead of time.

You should Make the words "Bleeding-Ear" in red otherwise it doesn't seem like it's so bloody plus red as colour is the most eye-catching (keep the smaller print white though). Also if you want it to look more "metal" give it a black or metallic

background. Add a link and info to the store site in your sig, to bring more awareness.

Im guessing you don't do graphical or web design then. but red is a general no no, its good for drawing attention to important sections of a page but no more you want people looking at the content not the title. I do agree with maybe making it a bit darker, but I would avoid black, the tan adds a level of professionalism in my opinion.

I'll ask my distributor about the Anvil and Deep Purple CDs Some things just get removed from the list when they're about to be reissued or whatever so that might by why it's not there right now. A lot of old Anvil stuff was out of print till they made that documentary, now everyone loves them again

For design, yeah I agree the red logo would be eyecatching but from a design standpoint what I want to stand out more is the products, not my name it's all about website usability and getting people to click in the right places so they'll buy things I did have a darker design at first but it had a kind of "fansite" feel to it, I want to appear as more of a professional & legit store. I will be doing some more tweaks and fixes to get it to look more "metal" though

Yakface said I could put a link in my sig as long as it's not a big ad, so yeah I'll be doing that too

The thing is if you want it to look "metal" adding darkness is an each way to achieve that, there's also giving it a metallic look too like adding diamond plate, chrome or a barb-wire texture. You could also give it a "hot-rod" look too such as hot rod

flames, chrome or leather as cool cars and bikes are common imagery associated with metal album sleeves and songs just look at Motorhead, ZZ Top, Judas Preist, and Saxon for inspiration. You could use a blood covered background because a lot of

metal songs deal with violence (although that might be too controversial). Definitely stay away from Satanic imagery though as that might limit your audience. Skulls, guitars, speakers, drums, car/bike engines, spikes, lightning bolts, studs and iron

crosses might be simple additions worth considering too. Also I bought a few too many CD's and want to cancel my order for Metallica's "Kill 'Em All" but I've already got the receipt so is there way I can cancel it?

Definitely want to stay away from the devil stuff. I'll be carrying all that black metal and death metal and whatever, but the site I want to reflect metal as a whole. My plan in the end is to have it sort of with a brushed/scratched metal feel instead of tan.

Right now though I'm a little less concerned about the overall design, my first big goal is to really just get all of the products updated so they at least have a photo of the album cover with a description or track list. I just finished all the "A" bands yesterday that was about 700 or so different albums and it took me about 2 weeks. Trying to decide if I want to keep doing it alphabetically or just go with the bigger bands first or the ones with the most products and then work my way down to the 1 hit wonders last.

thanks for the order though even though you canceled Feel free to reorder the ones you want. I also asked my distributor and they don't have but can get deep purple's machine head, but Forged in Fire is out of print right now. They also said a lot of the old Anvil albums might be getting reissued and/or remastered soon but right now it's just rumors.

You could do a rusted metal look too. Also I would keep doing it alphabetically till your done, then theirs no surprises with the customers because everyone will know when the images are coming. Don't worry I'll be buying from you soon. It's too bad you can't get Anvil's "Forged in Fire" as that's one of their more well known albums.

I think I'm gonna be doing a pretty big redesign now that I'm figuring out how the software all works. For my homepage I'll have a big "ad" area where I make a little ad for different new releases, and get rid of the columns on each side. Under the add I'll have 12 featured items and I'll get rid of the newly added ones because that will automatically add anything new, like even if I just add a new tshirt size to one that already exists.

I'll still be sticking with lighter colors in general though. But I'm thinking more chrome or iron diamond plate than dark rust stuff. I just don't want a dark looking site because to me that seems less professional.

right now i'm just waiting for my software upgrade that's supposed to happen next week

Yeah I get international stuff. Seems like half the bands on my list are crazy, black, death, devil, church-burning-baby-killing metal bands from scandinavia. There must be some really angry folks that live up there... hehe

but I'll ask about Cog, maybe I can get it.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Jeez... I used to live with a guy about four years ago who would listen to nothing but The New Normal, Cog's first full length album.
They had a few EPs first which were okay and I saw them live a few times in pub gigs before that. That album though... makes me sick now. It's like Flynn sang one big song over 11 different backing tracks. Luci is a sick drummer and saves it... but the vocals... if my ears were eyes I'd put them out after more than two consecutive tracks.
