Tanks can be cracked pretty easily up close with melta or fists on rear armor.
Long range anti-armor is not as relyable.
I think that's a pretty good balance for armor. It's strong at range but weak up close

I have always thought, since the dawn of this game, that tanks ought to be iffy and the rules justify that assumption edition after edition. They are wicked powerful fire platforms, but one unlucky hit might kill off your monstrosity. When I play I usually go after tanks first because that lucky 6 might change a lot of the game. I think everybody has some kind of lascannon-equivalent weapon, and yeah there's always melta if you can get close. The only vehicle I have a problem with is the Land Raider. I think the assault ramp is just a ridiculous rule when everyone else has to drop and wait, the giant clunky terminators can assault faster than me?! I hate trying to kill land raiders and they always come delivering an impenetrable crust over a wad of cheese. I'm glad I can get a lucky pop on them nowadays.

Retroactively applied infallability is its own reward. I wish I knew this years ago.

lol at the very idea of this post...Last thing this game needs is a vehicle buff. Someone lock it before GW happens to stumble upon this and get a dumb idea...just kidding.

I disagree, at the very worst, vehicles are a little too difficult to destroy, but I don't see many problems to be honest.

I wish GW would come out with the older vehicle rules, then we could hear some people complain. In 2ed anything short of a TH, PF, or LC couldn't take out a tank especially if you hit the wrong part...turret comes to mind.

yeah but in old rules a multimelta had a blast template and you rolled for each part of the vehicle caught under it... And eldar jetbikes weren't just a model, they were a model with a rider and AV10 and a 1/3 chance of hitting the rider. You REALLY want to go back to those days? Saim Hann would be back in action I guess but I just kind of like it the way it is now. Vehicles are an all-eggs(points)-in-one-basket gamble. You take that risk, right? You reap the rewards and win by massive firepower, or you lose your gamble on that 6 roll and poof, now your army sucks, too bad you didn't diversify tank-spam-boy. Anyone else feel the same? I grant that the game has gone mechanized a great deal, but while my Falcon got nerfed, I like that they are now easier to kill and less "nyaa nyaa you cant hit me" because, although I used to do that against other aggressive players, I never thought it was right to do it, I just did because I have a weak will and knew he would be spamming too I guess. Now I prefer armies that don't rely primarily on some sick points sink of a tank because if that basket drops, those eggs break.

I'll guess most of those cars weren't loaded with high explosives and penetrated by a jet of plasma? I've seen a battle tank blown up for demonstration with one demolition charge inside the hull. It WAS a 40 pound ammonium nitrate cratering charge, but still hardly equivalent to a full combat load of tank rounds. The turret landed upside down and proximately 20 yards away.

For the Emperor! Kill Maim Burn!... I mean purge the unclean!

Getting into a tank is like climbing into a prayer chamber that rolls, assuming you will randomly blow up or not based on god's will. Read 'Team Yankee' much mention is made of ammo cookoffs and such.
