Where Eagles Dare.

"Holy mother of feth. What the hell just happened there?" Mikhail was a combat medic. He had seen his share of freaky stuff.
Nothing had prepared him for blind primal rage. That kid was whacked in the head. Lizzi had tears running slowly down her cheeks.
So did the kid for that matter. Why had he suddenly lost it? And why was she so calm? Because she was Lizzi, that's why. His Lizzi.
Mikhail looked down at the fading green pigment that was now flowing from the kids wound. It seemed to be ... fleeing his body
or something. Creepy.

She looked down at the weeping child and pitied him. He was just a kid. She leaned over and kissed his forehead. Then something
clicked. "Mikhail, do you have any alcohol on you?" He grinned. "Do you really know me that well?" He reached into his jacket and pulled
out a hip flask. She unscrewed the lid and offered it to the kid. He looked up and studied it. He took it cautiously and sipped. He began
to cough a little and what sounded like a giggle came from his throat. He closed his eyes and breathed deep before opening them.
He was looking right at her. She began to sing the same song as before, holding the kid's hand.

Jordan wiped the last few tears from his eyes as the woman finished her song. She smiled at him, and he gave a weak, half-hearted smile back. She wasn't going to hurt him, no-one with those eyes could ever hurt anything. The man still looked wary, but then again that was to be expected. Jordans head still throbbed like feth, but then again he reasoned that was to be expected too.
The blinding pain in his arm had more or less dissapeared, and the discolouration was waning-so that was a start. Nevertheless, there was...something. Not so much pain as a clinging tingling sensation. It was as if the pain wanted to stay in his body, but that couldn't be right. No disease was sentient. The woman was still lightly stroking his arm, and he eyed the alcohol flask he was carrying. He had never drank before, and had never planned for, but he supposed that didn't matter now. Taking another small sip, he gave a small hiccup, causing the woman to giggle softly.
"Oh, by the way, I'm Lizzi. And that's Mikhail." Mikhail nodded in greeting, and Jordan returned the gesture. "What's your name, kid?" Lizzi continued. Jordan was silent for a moment, before opening his coat and revealing his name hastily scrawled in black felt-tip on a tag. "Pleased to meet you Jordan." said Lizzi, pausing for a moment before continuing; "Where's your parent's?"
Jordan furrowed his brow-parents. He hadn't thought about them since he woke up, but now he was he realised he couldn't remember anything about them. There was something at the back of his mind, but for whatever reason he couldn't remember it. He did notice that his backpack felt very heavy all of a sudden however. After a whle, Jordan just looked at Lizzi again and shrugged.
Now it was Lizzi's turn to furrow her brow. "Oh, thats..odd" she siad, looking deep in thought, before asking "You don't talk much, do you Jordan?" Jordan shook his head. After a breif, awkward pause, Mikhail spoke up.
"We should probably get moving. I don't want those...well, whatever they were to come back." Lizzi and Jordan nodded, before Mikhail sped of at high speed. Jordan was the only one that noticed the pair of hungry, red eye's watching from the nearby bushes.

Dave wiped the blood from his face, sapt out some from his mouth, and grabbed one of the large desks.

"Help me move this thing, will ya?" Dave asked, struggling with it's weight. The German helped him push, but not the Brit who's ass he'd kicked.

"Why you doin that?" The Brit asked.

'By my guess, it's pretty damn late. I ain't movin at night, and I sure as hell don't want to freeze." He shivered slightly as a cold wind suddenly blew.
With the help of the German, Dave mangaed to stand the desk and block off the broken window. He began rooting around in other desks, tearing things out.

'What're you looking for anyway?" The Brit asked.

"Lighter. Ah HA!" He jumped up, and held up a disposable Bic. He quickly gathered papers and files, dumping them in a pile. He let the flame lick at the paper.
And then the sprinklers came on.

They rushed out of the room as quickly as possible. The sprinklers in the corridor turned on, the sprinklers all on that level turned on.

"I HATE YOU!!" The British guy screamed at him, and the German just ran towards the stairs.

They reached the stariwell, and sat down, dripping wet.

"That was pleasant." Dave said in a cheery voice.
"What the hell makes you say that?" The British guy asked.
"Got any dried blood left on you?" He asked rhetorically.

"So, you got a name?" Dave asked.
The German answered first.
"Konrad."

The British guy hesitated.
"Call me Ghosty."

"Well Ghosty and Konrad, we need to get outta this building. Don't know if you've felt it, but I've felt trembles and shakes in it since I climbed through the window."
He looked at the wall for what floor they were on.
"Twenty seven... shoot. Let's get moving."
Before either of them had a chance to talk back, Dave was already moving.

Mikhail drove quickly, but not enough to draw attention. Jordan creeped him out a little but at least he wasn't vamping out on them
any time soon. He hoped. Lizzi had certainly taken a shine to him at least and that was enough reason for him to stay. The suburbs
were a little comfort that civilisation, if you could call it that, was near. He slowed the driving a little and lookd at the state of the houses
around them. They lay in various state of disarray, as if smashed into and torched from the inside. Bits and pieces of debris littered the ground
and yards of the houses. More of those things flew overhead and strange animal sounds were heard around them. Mikhail hated it when
Lizzi was right.

Lizzi sat in the back with Jordan resting his head on her shoulder. He was too quiet for a teenager, way too quiet. Then there was the
backpack. He carried it around like it was a newborn baby. That was weird, but at least he had calmed down. Thank the Goddess for
small mercies at least. She had seen the look of terror in Mikhail's eyes, and he was a medic. How must have she looked then.
Those few seconds had scared the feth out of her. Something strange had happened with Jordan, and it had something to do with
that bite. She really needed to get him something to write on. Staying too quiet creeped her out.

Exeter

Dave raced down the stair well, apparently caught up with the excitement of the moment. Konrad seemed to have a link with the kid, and so followed, just not quite at the same excited pace.

Tom ran his hands through his dreads, which dripped heavily with water. He casually walked down the stairs after them. If he lost the two he wouldn't lose sleep over it. He'd probably feel all the better about it. Without thinking about it really, Tom picked up a fire extinguisher from the wall.

"I'd like to see that kid get back up after he got this in the face." Tom mused. Too heavy though, he's not have enough freedom with it. It made a resounding clang when it hit the floor, and something, something that was sleeping in the rooms below, something woke up...

After a while, Lizzi motioned for the car to stop outside some odd looking cubicles. Explaining that she 'had to go', she got out and dashed into what the two boy's now realised were portaloo's. Jordan had been entranced deep in thought, until Mikhail turned and abruptly snapped him out of his reverie.
"Look, Jordan" he said, voice sombre. "I know it probably wasn't your fault, but what happened a while ago-I don't want it happening again. You could of seriously hurt me, or even Lizzie. She may have taken a shine too you but forgive me if I'm not yet convinced. I'm going to be keeping an eye on you, and you'd do well to remeber that." Jordan simply pulled an irritated expression, and nodded lightly.
Why are you leting him push you around like that?
The thought had left his head as quickly as it had entered, but it was enough to cause Jordan to widen his eye's and snap his head to attention, looking around in a surprised manner. Mikhail clenched his fists slightly, and simply asked "What?" Jordan did not reply. He took a few seconds to take a last few wary glances around him, before meeting the man's gaze and cautiously shrugged his shoulders. He had no doubt that Mikhail had seen the lie in his eyes.
Lizzie returned a few moments later, the smile dropping from her face as she witnessed the tension between the two males. "Um, guys? What up?" she asked, voice shaky. Mikhail looked at her, before looking at Jordan again, and finally breathing out with a heavy sigh. "Nothing, love" he replied, "We're just tired. Come on, let's try and find somewhere to sleep." With that, Lizzie buckled herself in and they began to drive on.
Jordan looked down, still concerned about the rougue notion that had entered his head. The bite wound had momentarily stung again, as if it was almost trying to communicate with him. Obviously that was impossible, but it still worried Jordan. Because whatever that thought had been, he knew one thing.
It hadn't been his own.
