For anyone in Canada looking for Krylon, Wal-mart is your best bet. Not only did they have a better selection than Home Depot, Lowes, Rona and Home Hardware, but it was 4.84 a can.

Also, if you pop over a few isles to the craft section, you'll find Krylon's matte sealer. Excellent stuff.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

The only thing I have found with Krylon is that it does have a tendency to not bond well with FW stuff. The chipping is only very slight but that is the only thing I have to say that is negitive about using krylon. Their paint is top notch for the price.

Just a word of warning tough, I bought my first can of krylon and messed up (I forgot to shake the can, slowed I know). The figure has been laying in break fluid for more than a month and it doesn't seem to be comming off.

I figured maybe the oil's getting old so I've let some GW-primed (yes, old GW primer) models there and if that paint comes out I'm just going to get something else to prime with as the risk is too much, it's already costing me a 8€ mini.

That's not necssarily an issue with the primer. It is resin after all.

Hmm this thread seems to have been necroed.

In regards to primer, i think ill stick with my £1 per 300ml can, pretty sure it does fine for metal and plastics

Is Krylon an enamel or acrylic spray? I have looked everywhere in Australia and I can't find a single can of acrylic spray paint.

Son can you play me a memory? I'm not really sure how it goes...

The cans don't say whether they're enamel or acrylic, though they do say flammable.
Their web site only supports US and Canada, maybe a car shop or something like that would have it.

What is the problem with Armory black primer? I just bought a can on Saturday to try it out, but haven't used it yet :/.

I've had cans of Armory that where ok, so hopefully yours is good but I doubt it. Armory comes on very flaky, especially the white primer and the flatt matte varnish does the weird thing where it dries before it hits the model and then goes on really thick so it ruined a bunch of my stuff. Generally I'd stay away from it or use your can for priming things like terrain where there is more leeway for things like that.

Chances are, if its primer, its not enamel. plus is goes on in a smooth finish and not a thick, still sticky finish like enamel does. Also, if you want a matte varnish, Krylon makes a good one which I just started using with no problems. Its Krylon crystal clear in flat of gloss.

Eh? Krylon primer is 3 dollars at Wal-mart.

Yeah, provided Wally World has the colour I need.

Otherwise I'm stuck with Home Hardware and their inflated prices.

You don't even need the primer on most plastics, the Fusion is easier to paint on. Plus the shiny veneer helps you find spots you miss (it looks awful alone) and that imho makes life easier.

Krak_kirby wrote:If you're priming plastic use Krylon Fusion. It's available in black, white and colors, some in satin and flat finish. You can fingernail the model after it dries and it won't come off. I can often find the first base color for my army scheme as well and prime with that.

THIS.

I use Krylon Fusion Flat Black to prime all of my plastic miniatures, except when there is a Fusion that is the base color of my army. Like my CSM army is all deep blood red, so I used Krylon Fusion Burgandy to both prime and base coat in one easy step.

If you're looking for a cheaper alternative to GW primer, take a look at Duplicolor Black Auto Primer. It also comes in white and grey. The black is used by the catalog painters at Privateer Press for all the catalog models, and I'd bet money that the P3 Primer is just relabelled Duplicolor.

At 3.99 a can, it's about a quarter of the price of GW Primer.
