Depends what I am painting.

My Tau are a snow camo force. Very simple very unified color scheme, I can knock out 3 crisis cuits in 2-3 hours from primed to based. Did a hammerhead in 2 hrs.

MY 8 silver helm took at least 40 hours, since they first of the lot.

Did the Battlescape in about 5-6 hours.

Currently working on my first soul grinder Tzeentch style have about 2 hours in so far and only 3 colours on it.

HQ's take a couple hours usually and my Koptas take about 45min each.

I am SLOOOOW and trying to improve speed... At one point, I was at 5+ hour / model.


These terminators took about 1-1.5 hours each.

White undercoat
Paint base: Scorched brown, Bestial brown, Bubonic brown - 5 mins ea
Basecoat camo green, boltgun metal - 20 mins ea
Devlan mud wash - 5 mins ea
Rehighlight camo green - 30-45 mins ea
Gems and details - 5-10 mins ea


These long gunners were probably closer to 2-2.5 hours each.

Undercoat black
Paint base: Scorched brown, Bestial brown, Bubonic brown - 5 mins ea
Basecoat khemri brown, boltgun metal - 20 mins ea
Wash devlan mud 5 mins ea
Paint straps, gun stock, face and hair scorched brown - 10-15 mins ea
Base blue portions in Cygnar Blue Base - 5 mins
Highlight blue portions in Cygnar Blue Highlight - 5 mins
Highlight all light khaki areas with progressive build of Khemeri brown / Kommando khaki mix from 100% Khemri brown to 100% Kommando khaki at highest highlights - 30-40 mins ea.
Face: Mix of scorched brown and elf flesh, gradiented highlights 15-20 mins
Hair: Various browns and yellows: 5 mins
Straps / Gunstock: Calthan brown highlight: 5 mins
Goggles / eyes / gems etc: 10 mins
Cleanup: 5 mins


This was from the peak of my slow stage at 7+ hours

per guardsmen 20-30 min but paint in batch whole squad 3--4 hours. depends on time i have.
